Make sure you are threading the machine correctly and it has the proper tension. Also check the bobbin the thread has to go thru the little lash

SOURCE: NEEDLE KEEPS COMING UNTHREADED WILL NOT CATCH IN FABRIC

Most machines need to have the thread extend to the back of the machine in order not to come unthreaded.

My needle keeps coming unthreaded when sewing

normally when you use longer thread tails of 4 to 6 inches and move
the thread tails behind the needle before starting to sew.

My machine keeps coming unthreaded

yes, I would suggest checking the needle
make thread tail of 3 to 6 inches for the top thread & bobbin & make
sure they are pulled behind the needle before you start to sew

My thread uptake lever keeps coming unthreaded. It causes stitches to be skipped and eventually the thread breaks. I have adjusted the tension, it doesn't help.

take up lever--try putting some tape on it to see if that will stop the thread from coming off.
also change the needle--make sure is the correct one for the fabric

I have a Brother LS-1717 sewing machine and my thread keeps breaking. We've oiled it but it hasn't acted right for years, it hasn't seemed to matter what the settings are on or what...

here are somethings to try,
1. change the needle--flat side goes to the back of the machine
2. check the tension see if it's too tight,,usually 4 to 5 is good
3. rethread the machine top thread & bobbin area
4. check to see if there are any burrs on the needle plate where the feed dogs are (teeth area)
5. you said that you made a comforter for your husband using thick fabric,,some sewing machine are not good at sewing comforters & other heavy fabric,, it's possible that the machine is out of time, which means it will not sew good & mess up,, which means it needs to be serviced by a repair shop technican to see if it is out of time.

I needle comes unthreaded whenever we try to sew. We've both tried numerous times and it doesn't make a sitch. The bobbin seems to be done correctly b/c the bottom thread comes up with no problem....

first let's deal with the needle becoming unthreaded, Keeping the needle threaded is easy, always keep thread tails of 3 to 6 inches on the top thread & bobbin at all times, & make sure the thread tail are pulled behind the needle before you start to sew,, this will ensure that the thread will not come out of the needle when you start to sew.

you mention the fabric is thin,, do you have a needle that's right for the fabric your sewing?
thin fabric needs a different needle than blue jeans fabric, check your top tension & see what the setting is on, usually 3 to 5 is good.

when the needle & thread are right for the fabric then the sewing is good.

also clean under the needle plate & bobbin area for loose threads or lint

also it's a possibility that the machine could be out of time & would need to be serviced by a sewing machine repair shop-as they have the tools for the job

My needle keeps coming unthreaded. HELP please

1) Open the needle plate and bobbin case and make sure the tangled threads are removed.

2) Open the manual; read and follow every step.

3) Thread the machine with the presser foot up - this is often overlooked and causes loopy stitches that pull right out.

4) Make sure the bobbin in inserted so the bobbin thread is feeding from the bobbin spool in the correct direction and through the proper guides.

5) Take hold of the needle thread and lower, then raise the needle to pull the bobbin thread up through the needle plate. Take both threads under the presser foot and to the back of the machine.

6) When you come to the end of the stitching, make sure the take up lever is at it's highest position. This will keep the thread from coming out of the needle when you begin to sew.

I hope this will help and you will soon be sewing.

Tread keeps coming out of the needle.

Make sure you sink the needle into the fabric before starting to sew. If that isn't it...remove the thread and rethread the machine. Make sure the thread isn't wrapped around the spool holder.

The serger is not sewing right. Everytime I sew the thread from the top needle goes into the fabric, but the other threads do not. It does not come unthreaded just is not catching somewhere. I have...

It sounds as though you have a timing problem. The lower looper is not catching the needle thread. You might try lowering the needle about 1/16 inch to see if the looper will catch the thread. If that works, you can put the needle back and adjust the needle bar. If it doesn't, then you need to take it to a technician.
