Several problems on eee PC 900 - is it toast?

Several problems with eee PC 900 after water spilt on it - keyboard adds extra characters or just types "o"s, black screen after XP loads, music as desktop starts gets stuck, clicking/tapping sounds when in "start" and occasional beeps when I get onto the desktop. Salvageable?

Does Eee PC 900 has an on-screen keyboard?

Windows should have the feature. Check Start menu, Accessibility, or something along those lines. Otherwise it may be in Control Panel, do a search for accessibility.

Your numlock is turned on. There is more than one way to turn it off.Find a USB keyboard, and plug it in. Then push the numlock key on the USB keyboard to turn it off.OR, if you don't have access to one of those, hold down the fn key (lower left hand corner of the keyboard) and press the key with numlock or number lock written on or near it.

Hi, my acer aspire 4930's keyboard not functioning correctly.. when i press letter "a" it appear as "A1" same as "Q" appears "Q1".. pls help me

Hi.

Try cleaning the keyboard with a clean, dry paintbrush just in case there is anything stuck under the keys. Once you have cleaned the keyboard try typing keys to see if it does the same thing. If the keys type as normal then you have resolved the problem.
If the keys still type other characters along with the letter then there is a strong possibility that the keyboard needs to be replaced.
This usually happens when something has been spilt on the keyboard causing it to type random characters or the characters directly above or below them.

Seeing as the keyboard is a laptop keyboard you can use a wireles/wired keyboard or you can use the on-screen keyboard if you can't get the keyboard to work.

If there is anything else please post back.

Good luck.

Water on the keyboard of my asus notebook eee PC4G- some keys not working. what can i do?

You could remove keyborad from notebook and use a humidity extractor but maybe the electrical contact keys got oxidized, if this is the case the whole keyboard should be replaced, a cheaper solution should be to get an external usb mini keyboard.

When I type the letter "s" I get the save file window. When I type the letter "p" I get the print window.

This means that your "Ctrl"button at your keyboard is pressed down. Take a look for something that is keeping either of the 2 Ctrl buttons pressed. Otherwise it's a keyboard's problem. Shut down the notebook and check the buttons for proper mechanical movement of the keys.
