Question about Invacare Nutron R51 Folding Power Wheelchair

1 Answer

Left motor gears/clutch do not fully engage.

Chair's left rear wheel jolts as you move the joystick in any position. Almost feels like the gears are stripped. Removed the top of the gear box and all the gears are fine.

My gear feels loose when I move ot.now I have to turn the chair on and off 2 or 3 times to make it go.what could it be?

A 14 hr charge with the Joystick left on. There is a circuit that has to be reset. The circuit is tripped by controller getting too hot or having too heavy a current draw on the motor. Leaving the joystick on during charging is okay and will not hurt anything.

Hoveround won't move.

Double check to be sure drive levers are fully engaged. Go down and up a few times. If problem persists have Hoveround come and check it out. One of the drive motors may have shorted out when you continued driving with gravel in the wheel.

What is Code 35

assuming this is a Pride Q600 or simular powerchair.with the q600 what usually happens is grease leaks into motor .the motor current
draw then goes up and chair tries to go in circle.first check the outer motor brush & spring for burning.if you have a dc clampmeter check current draw with joystick forward aprox 3 amps.if over replace motor.if no clampmeter run chair for 10 mins wheels off ground Then feel both motors if left one red hot .replace it.hope this helps

Power steering electric

Hello,

If the chair wants to drive left then you have a disengaged left motor clutch lever or a left motor going bad. Then M51 will not give an error code if the clutch is disengaged. If the chair is veering left as you are driving but you are still able to turn to turn right then the motor is not likely to be disengaged but has a brush or gear problem.
It is also possible that the joystick is not working well. The joystick is much less likely to be the problem unless it is damaged somehow.

I have an error code 5 on invacare pronto 51 surestep

This indicates a fault with the left parking brake. Check to see that all the connections are tight by unplugging, and replugging them in, check to see if there is any damage to any of the cables, but first, make sure that the neutral lever on the motor is fully engaged in the drive position...sometimes these get bumped and the controller/computer thinks the chair is out of gear. Move the lever to the full neutral position/out of gear, then reengage it to the drive position.

Yellow invacare wrench

Motors must be fully locked in gear to drive. Also many chairs require the joystick to be turned off before putting them in gear or turn chair off and back on after engaging the motors.

Blinking yellow wrench light on pride jazzy 614 HD

Your version has a Dynamic Controls model controller and joystick.
Unplug the charger and engage the motor/brake lever so the chair is no longer in free-wheel mode (con't push by hand)
Turn the chair off, wait 5 seconds, turn the chair back.
If chair still does not run and your wrench is flashing you have a problem. Count the wrench flashes - the flash count indicates the error detected. 3, 4, 5, and 6 flashes indicate and error with the motors.
3=Left motor fault
4=Right motor fault
5=Left brake fault (may not be engaged)
6=Right brake fault (may not be engaged)
Any other fault code usually means the electronics or wiring is bad and not worth fixing.

Jazzy 614HD will not move. Lights flash from right to left, then cuts off. Unlock instructions are not effective. Chair is fully charged.

If chair has a tilt, recline or lift seat on it it may be going into lock-out mode on its own due to a limit switch fault. If you don't have any of these options then I suggest you remove the joystick, controller and any wire harness between the two and send them to a shop like mine for repair.
The usual lock out light chase is from left to right - not right to left so this is suspect of a different issue.

I bought used mprv 4 hooveround, been setting for a couple years and I put new battries in it,I put it in driveand all the lights come on you can near something running when you move the lever forward,...

take the freewheel levers and move them up and down a few times then leave them both in the up position. Turn on the chair and see if it works correctly The noise you hear are the motors or motor running because one or both levers are in freewheel.The clicking you hear is the electric brakes engaging when you move the joystick Hope this helps

My wheelchair dose not move

The chair has two levers, one for each motor, that disengage it for freewheeling, or pushing the chair without power. These take it out of gear. Place the levers in the locked, gear-engaged position and it should go for you. Here's a link for the manual for your chair, and it will show you where the location is to place it in gear.http://www.invacare.com/doc_files/1125085J.pdf
