Canon ip 1880 - colour cartridge problem

I have a new canon pixma 1880. I refilled the black ink and was fine. I later filled color cartridge and seems fine at first but after some time the printer says that the cartridge is not installed correctly. I took it to the ink shop to check the problem. They told me the colour cartridge needs replacement, but they advised me to buy a new machine which comes with both new black and colour ink installed. This will cost just a bit more than price I would have to be paying for the colour cartridge.

The printer will not work with just the black ink install. It will require colour cartridge too.

Is there a solution to avoid buying new expensive cartridges?

The point is this is a new printer with new cartridges and this was the colour cartridge filled with colour ink. It worked fine the first few days - then later on we kept getting this message that the cartridge is not properly installed. The black cartridge was filled twice - no problem yet. I am beginning to think there should not be a problem with colour cartridge. Or was the ink shop trying to sell a new printer?

How to refill canon pixma ip1600 ink colour? the hole is too small.

IF YOU HAVE BUY THE INKS THEN YOU GET NIDLE AND SIRING THEN YOU WILL USE THE TECHNIC DOCTOR USE TO SWAP THE LIQUID FROM THE CONTAINER AND INJECT IT IN THE BODY YOU WILL USE THE SAME TECHNICS GET THE INK IN TO THE SIRING AND PUT IT IN THE CARTRIDGE BUT MIND YOU LOOK AT THE HOLES VERY WELL RED HOLE WILL BE MARK RED, BLUE WILL BE MARK BLUE WHILE YELOW WILL BE MARK YELOW SO ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS FOR YOU TO PUT THE INK IN THE RIGHT HOLE IN SOME CARTRIDGE THE HOLES WILL GUIDE BY A OBJECT REMOVE CAREFULLY THEN AS YOU FINISH REFILLING EACH HOLE PUT THE OBJECT BACK.

I want to refill the ink cartridges (black 30 - colour31) myself....how do I do it?

Hi there,
Filling is easy - but messy. I use No 40 cartridges for my pixma ip2200.
For the black cartridge, carefully remove the label. Drill a 2-3mm dia. hole in the depression in the top. With a syringe fill, using about 10ml of black ink. Plug the hole with a suitable bung and away you go!
You will however lose the ink level indication as it is not a genuine cartridge - but that is unreliable anyway.
Don't refill more than a couple of times as the foam inside the case eventually perishes and all the ink runs out.

Whilst the cartridge is out of the printer give the jets a wipe with a wet tissue. This is usually quite effective in removing dried on ink.

You can do the same with 41 colour cartridges but it is a bit more tricky locating the correct place to drill.

Good luck

Refilling canon iP 1880 color cartridge

Insert a fine needle through the hole and when the ink sticks to the needle withdraw it and rub on a white cloth and identify the color and mark the holes accordingly.

The ink absorber is full for pixma 1880

This is the REAL working method of manually resetting Canon ip1880 - ip 1980.

1. Unplug the POWER cord.
2. Press & hold the power button.
3. Connect the power cord WHILE holding the power button.
4. Keep on holding the power button for about 30 seconds.
5. Release the power button. The printer should be turned off.
6. Turn the printer on and that's it!

NOTE: You have to do this every time you turn on your printer. Or you will get the waste pad full error.

Hope this helps.
