Question about Craftsman 20 hp 42 in. Deck Lawn Tractor - CA Model

Craftsman 13 hp lawn tractor slipping in reverse and low gears

My Craftsman 13 hp Lawn Tractor is slipping somewhere. It first slipped only in reverse and now over time also in lower gears. The engine does NOT rev higher when it starts to slip. Tractor just slows down a bit and lunges repeatedly, you can feel it catching up. The old tranny belt is still in great shape and looks MAYBE 1/2 inch shorter than the new one.

Really hard to say without looking at it but it sounds like a pully has seperated or is trying to come apart they are made in two peaces.

Steering gear slips

You have the steering shaft the pinion gear on the end of the shaft and the stationary gear at the bottom on the frame. Either the gears are worn out or the steering shaft has too much play in it causing the gears to slip.

Mower slips in and out of forward gear but rides perfect in reverse; What do I need to adjust?

Reverse is a different gear set than forward gears. Sounds like forward gear set has a broken tooth. Not an easy fix.

I have a 42" craftsman tractor... when you turn all the way to left the wheels get stuck... can I adjust anything?

What happens when you turn right? Does it turn as sharp as it used to? Almost sounds like the steering gear teeth have slipped and now it is steering to far to the left. You'll have to check the steering sector gears at the bottom of the steering column.

My craftsman lawn tractor 42" cut (2007 model) cuts off when i try to engage the cutting blades

You have a safety switch somewhere that is open, like the seat, you have to be in the seat or it will kill the engine, sometimes the clutch has to be in, not moving, sometimes the gear selector in neutral, You have a bunch of safety switches that prevent the mower from spinning if you are not in your seat, not ready, etc. Check them out. Hope this helps.

Tractor will not go forward or in reverse it started slipping in forward then it just quit

Check your clutch belt and pulleys to see if your belt is off or worn. Check for worn pulleys.
