1 Answer

3 plugs inside the tower came unplugged i just replaced my u8668d motherboard with a new one. I am not sure if i hooked up the little black power button connectors on it correctly. Is there any manual or picture with this hooked up correctly so I can compare and see if i did it right?

You can download the manual from here
http://www.biostar-usa.com/mbdownloads.asp?model=U8668%20D

pages 3 and 4 give you a quick overview of the connectors and locations. But there are more detailed diagrams and instructions further on.

Good luck

Dell Dimension 3100 won't boot; keyboard fell off the table onto the tower; am getting 1-3-2 beep codes. Is this fixable?

Just because they hit the tower should not have hurt anything.

But, you should turn it off, pull the power plug, then hit the power button, then again and make sure the lights don't turn on or flash.

This make's sure that all the power is gone from the motherboard.

Before you touch the inside, make sure you touch metal, so you don't static shock the motherboard.

Now open the the side up. I would remove the two power connectors, one should be a 20-24 pin and another 4 pin.

Reset them to make sure they didn't come lose.

Check the HDD, hard drive plugs, fan plugs, the CPU fan plug.

Then check the monitor connection, and any on the back.

Try the monitor on another PC, or a monitor from another PC on this PC.

A hard shock to the power supply unit (PSU ) can kill it, it can still turn on the lights but not have the voltage to run it.

If you do all this and are safe and careful checking inside and out, then you might have to take it to someone who can test it.

You can also download the manual so you know what it looks like inside the PC and what the motherboard looks like and how you would set it up when new.

Good luck.

Fujitsu tower smoke out of rear no power

Sounds like you need a new power supply. Have a look at the labels on the old one inside the tower. The thing to look for is the total power output in Watts.
If it's 300watts for example then buy another with the same or higher wattage, I would go for a higher one. Then check the leads that come out the back in to the drives and motherboard etc. Especially the power to the motherboard. If it's a 20 pin socket thats the standard, if it's a 24 pin socket thats the more modern type but can still be used on a 20 pin connector on the motherboard, you just don't use the other 4 pin plug thats usually seperate at the end of the plug. The power supply is usually only held in place with 4 screws on the outside of the tower.
The main power connector to the motherboard has a little clip on the side of the plug that you have to press in to remove, it's like a little hook to stop it comming loose. There may also be a black and yellow wire 4 pin plug near the pocessor heatsink on fan, that also has a clip to press. It's not a hard job, just take your time and don't apply to much pressure when connecting the new leads to the board.

My Foxconn motherboard M61PMV suddenly stopped booting up. No beeps, no monitor but computer powers up. Before this everything was working fine and the computer was shut down normally. Please help me solve...

Will your system come up in safe mode? Try a shutdown and unplug the tower. Plug the tower back in and see if it will come up in safe mode. If it does, go to "control panel", find "device manager" and right click on it. Find "display adaptors" and click on box at right(has a little + inside), it should drop down your device. right click o it and you sjhould see 'enable" or "disable". If it says enable click on that ad you should be good to go. Make sure your connections between tower and monitor are good.

My computer screen is black after logging in and i cant do anything i have windows vista

Hello

This usually occurs when your RAM is faulty and can actually happen to all computers running many different operating systems. Aside from installing a new operating system to test out the RAM, you can simply switch out your RAM.

Turn off your computer if it is on. If you are experiencing the black screen regularly, there is a good chance that it will not allow you to boot up your computer fully without shutting itself down. If this is the case, your computer is already more than likely off. Remove the power cord from the computer tower.

Remove the screws that hold the PC tower cover in place with a screwdriver. The tower cover usually only comes off on one side, so gently remove the side that is capable, and place it away from the tower. Users with laptops need to remove the RAM panel from the underside of the computer. This gives you access to the RAM for replacing.

Locate the RAM that is attached to the motherboard of your computer. You will see clasps that hold the RAM into place, and you may see more than one stick of RAM. Remove all of the RAM sticks by pushing the clasps away, unhooking the RAM from the motherboard. Click your new, replacement RAM into place, and cover the tower back up with the cover, or replace the laptop RAM panel.

Hook up the power cable or place the battery back in, and power on your computer. You now see that your computer is working without the black screen appearing. If you have more than one stick of RAM, turn the computer off, and remove the power cords and battery. Insert one old RAM stick, and cover the tower back up, replace the power cord or battery, and turn on your computer. Check to make sure it does not present you with the blue screen. One by one, reinsert the old RAM sticks into your computer, and test your computer for stability. Once you are presented with the black screen, remove the last old RAM stick that you inserted, and your screen problems are gone.

One bad/faulty lead can cause a computer with lots of problems
replace all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA the ones that attach from your motherboard to hard drive
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they are probably old and faulty ?
hope this helps

Not powering up

Did the CPU and cooling fan come pre-installed or did you have to install it? Did you forget the separate 4 pin power connector from the power supply to the motherboard? Is the speaker hooked up and are there any beeps? Do all the fans spin up? Do you have a video card that requires additional power connection and forgot to connect it?
