Ibm thinkpad modem problems

You may have installed the wrong driver version. Some Thinkpads may have different manufacturers of the same type of devices installed in the laptops, therefore you need to install them one at a time until you find one that works. Go to the IBM/Lenovo WEB site - support/download page and download the latest Windows XP or Vista device drivers for your model computer, Use this link :- http://www.ibm.com/products/finder/us/finders?pg=ddfinder&cm_re=other-_-suprcn-_-download You can download the various drivers and then you click on and run the variour drivers, they will then unzip and expand into a folder on C:\drivers Then install the various drivers from this folder.

Ok i got a ibm thinkpad a22m with win 2000 p3.....under 'network connections" it shows my modem dial up isp...but not a lan connection...went to device manager and it shows under network adapters "3...

When you download the Thinkpad device drivers, they need to be the XP or Vista versions that matches the version of Windows that is installed on your Thinkpad.
Download the drivers from the IBM/Lenevo WEB site, make sure you select the correct model laptop and the correct Windows version of the drivers.
When you run the driver programs they will be unzipped/expanded to the hard drive in a folder c:\drivers. Then you need to open the various folders and run the setup programs to install the various drivers.
NOTE - The A22 series laptops come with various different manufacturers devices (eg. there are a few different wireless model LANs) and if one version driver doesn't work you need to install a different one. It is a bit of trial and error to find the right one.

Wireless connections

if you have win XP or equivalent, try using the default 56k modem driver by doing this...
...from DEVICE MANAGER...
double click modem and select the DRIVER tab, then select INSTALL FROM A LIST OR SPECIFIC LOCATION... then select DON'T SEARCH, I WILL CHOOSE THE DRIVER... then find the 56k default driver. It may not have all the bells and whistles, but it should get you started. Later, someday when the world is safer, you can find the driver specific to your modem.
ps...the above can be done on WIN 98, ME, 2000, NT, XP and up.
