Where's the fuel filter on my '89 Isuzu pickup 2.3 eng?

3rd post and now adds 2.3L engine,
USA car?
i will go to michells diy for you., so can you if want.
4ZD1 engine GAS, and is CARB. USA laws is yours?
carb has 3.5 PSI fuel pump. (if was bad engine would be dead)
carb has inline filter. (if clogged engine be dead)
did you know carbs can run with gravity fuel feed, so that means
your filter is not bad if misfiring engine,
are you going to guess 50 times?
its Carburetor fuel system
if the engine is ok,? (lots of parts to fail there for sure)
and sparks ok (i bet not) no tune up this decade, no new spark plugs not taking them out and going, omg, wrecked or black as coal.
et cetra.
then the CARB is bad, ever fix one, ive down more than i can count.
#1 is coke stuck on or dead
#2 is float level wrong and valve to it bad. leaks or sticks. or gummed up. or floods engine,
3: clogged jets, (endless topic)
4: air clean packed solid, its part of CARB.
5: if float level drops below spec, running sure the filter can be clogged. 99% it have to be.

Why does the carb keep flooding?

In the absence of something like a faulty or porous casting of the carb allowing fuel to bypass the float valves then sticking or leaky float valves, sticking or punctured floats or an excessive fuel line pressure must be the problem.

Where no isolating tap is fitted to a gravity feed system the float valves must be virtually perfect and the only way to ensure perfect seating is to examine the surfaces under a strong magnification and then verify correct seating by using a vacuum pump and gauge.

An excessive line pressure can be caused by a blocked fuel tank breather.

My fuel keeps running into the carburetor when the engine isnt running and is running over into the crank case. What can cause this.

The newer EPA approved carbs have an electrucal positive shutoff on the bottom of the carb bowl..it is designed to stopping overflow of gas onto the ground when the float sticks..The problem is when the float sticks the gas now flows back through the carb and eventually into the block and piston cylinders...You can have the carb cleaned or rebuilt but with the ethanol mix gas..this WILL happen again....The best solution for this is,,if you have a manual shut off make sure you shut it off EVERY TIME the engine is not running..PLUS run it for about 15-30 seconds after turning the shut off off..If you do not have one THEY ARE INEXPENSIVE ABOUT $5-10 so put one on in a location on the hose between the carb and tank where it can be easliy reached..THIS WILL STOP THIS FROM EVER HAPPENING AGAIN..just remember to do THIS EVERY TIME YOU SHUT DOWN THE MOTOR...GOOD LUCK..

Huskee Easy Cut 14.5 hp riding mower will not stay running. Immediately dies after cranking

Sounds like your float in the bowl is sticking..not allowing fuel to continue to feed gas to the carb. Take the bowl off and remove the float and needle valve and clean them..Note check and see if their gas inside the float itself..some times they develope a small rust hole partially filling the float.with gas. ..not allowing sufficient fuel to feed the carb..will need new float. GOOD LUCK.

Have a Speed Clean 2000 PSI Pressure Washer with B&S 3.75 Enigine that will not stay running. The unit will start and run for 30-45 seconds then stops. Can keep the engine running a little longer if I

the problem is with the carb. not able to keep enough fuel going into the float bowl to support engine staying running. could be hose off gas tank clogged or petcock, coud be main jet sticking closed or float level out of adjsutment.

Sounds to be the float and needle needs replaced. The float raises the needle to let gas through the carb. If the float isn't working properly the carb starve for gas. If replacing the float, be sure to clean the carb to.

Hi, I have a rototiller with a 2-stroke vertical engine. The engine will not start normally. When I put gas in the spark-plug hole the motor fires and will run until it burns off this amount of gas then...

sounds like you have a dirty and/or sticking float in the carb. Obviously you have gas flowing out of the tank. but not from carb to engine. This engine is used in dirt so the fuel system is especially suseptible to dirt, especially if you haven't changed your air filter very much. Easy easy and inexpensive fix...usually free if you have some basic tools. Remove the bottom of the float bowl (and be prepared to shut fuel off) and look in the bottom of it. If you can see visible dirt then clean out your carb with some good carb cleaner. The float should fall freely to the down position and fuel should be coming out as it is a gravity feed system (since you said hose goes from tank to carb there is no fuel pump). Shut off fuel, remove fuel hose from carb and blow air through the fuel port with the float bowl still off. This should help get any dirt out of that part of the system. At this point you can put the float bowl back on, fuel hose back on and fuel turned back on and try to start. If you still get nothing, you will need to completely remove the carb and do a cleaning job at the prots and adjustment screws. Depending on how old this motor is, this would be a good time to invest $20-$30 to get a carb rebuild kit and replace all gaskets and seals...doing this also gives you a chance to do a deep cleaning. Good luck, this project should take roughly 1 hr to do completely

Fuel is leaking into the engine and spraying out the case breather along with engine oil. when I drained the oil, mostly gas came out.

sounds like you may have a stuck float in the carburetor and gas is just washing in the motor!

remove the carburetor and remove the bottom bowl of the carburetor and see if the needle valve that is attached to the float is stuck!

hold the carburetor straight up and down and with your finger press up on the float and then let it down. the needle valve should move smoothly up and down with the float! while you have the bowl off you should clean the internal components very thoroughly!. also while holding up on the float you should not be able to blow into the feed tube of the carburetor and then when let back down you should be able to blow through it. if you can blow through it while in the upright position you will need to replace the seat and valve. good luck

I have a honda magna vf750 the no1 carb keeps sticking aqnd rev.ing high ?

Drain the carburetor. There should be a screw on the lower side of the carb float bowl. Remove the screw then replace it after the fuel drains. Turn the gas back on and wait a minute for the carb to fill with gas. Start the engine. If the bike doesn't start and run properly then shut off the gas and remove the carburetor from the engine.

Remove the float bowl and clean the entire carb with a spray carb cleaner from the auto parts store. Wear protective goggles to avoid getting spray in your eyes. Spray into all the little airways and fittings in the carb.
clean the air filter and install the carb. Let the float bowl fill then start the engine.

Please rate this solution. Thanks!

You might have to tap on the sides of the carb. Its float is sticking or the needle jet is stuck.May have to remove carb to clean but most of the time tapping on the carb in different places releases the stuck float or needle..Clean thoroughly with some good carb cleaner and some additive in tank if you do not want to remove carb..Works most of the time but in carb has to much old gas build up ur varnish it will stick again..Also make sure the choke is not sticking shut..Have a great day
