Try this:
go to My Mio > GPS and reset GPS.
then go outside, stay stationnary and you should get a GPS fix within 5 min

U should have checked before buying this device that it works in ur state .

Sometimes it is not easy, I know that from trying to do it myself more than once, a careful reading of the manual usually helps and I like to do this inside the house and not in the vehicle as mine allows that.
Keep trying and you will get it.
