the door switch is fine, the motor will still seem stuck with no belt attached,if it is a relay where would i find it in the dryer.the dryer will run some of the times when turned over by hand.

Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Have you checked the door switch? You dryer won't do anything if it thinks the door is open. If you see a diagram is there a thermal switch? But in general if the belt is free and the motor can be turned over by hand it depends on magnetism to turn over the stator. Humming or buzzing can be a fried relay and other than that it is a motor that is not turning.

It sounds like the motor has a bad spot on it. If you can get it to run by hand the motor is getting power. That means the thermal switch is OK, the door switch is working and the problem is inside the motor. Without a belt, the motor should spin freely without a load.

It is most likely due to the motor capacitor being faulty.
Generally a white plastic or aluminium cased cylinder with 2 connectors on it. Each connector may have a couple of wires in it.

yes they do...
Remove the panel below the dryer door to access the screws to remove the front of the dryer. Here is a breakdown of what you are looking for. The noise is probably from the rear bearing -http://www.repairclinic.com/referral.asp?R=154&N=1851

and front drum glide - http://www.repairclinic.com/referral.asp?R=154&N=343

Stacked Washer/dryer

possible the bearings are going. place yor hand in the bottom of the drum and run the drum around and feel the bearings for any wear/ noise/vibration. alteratively the bearings in the motor could have gone and spinning with the belt removed would prove this.

How do you get the front cover off the dryer?

Try removing the back cover to gain access to the dryer motor and other bits. Feel around the drum and around the lip of the drum at the door opening. There could be a wire or chain stuck between the drum and the frame.
