Washer won't work and door is locked shut with clothes inside. Can I get the door open manually?

turn off . turn off power point. Wait 3 minutes then turn on power point. Try blowing on drain pipe then turn dial to spin cycle .
See if water pump is engaged during spin cycle.
Don't know if you can manually open the door
Had a similar problem and found the water pump was not pumping the water out and spin cycle was failing to complete.
Check filter of front loader as well .

Water fills 20" on was cycle, rinse cycle fills 8". Clothes coming out soapy or really wet

it indicates that the pump is not getting power when on the spin cycle
it could be a blocked hose to the pump, faulty pump( obstruction in impeller of pump) or failed program board not connecting the spin cycle to the pump and water control solenoid.
best have a service technician check it out.

The pump has a thermal safety cut out on it.
If the pump gets too hot it cut out.
Just put a new pump in and your all going again.

Machine is not taking water out of the laundry during spin cycle. Please advise. Thank you

Hi there, It could be several things ... the most common and cheapest to repair:
1. When in the spin cycle can you hear the pump whirring or trying to.... you may hear a hum (if it is jammed)
2. Check there is not some foreign body that has lodged in the pump blade and it is unable to turn. To do this ... remove the little plug right near where the drain line (pumping out the used water) comes out (make sure you have emptied the machine of water ..... or you will have a flood on your hands if it is still full of water)
NOTE: to remove water either use a syphon hose (garden hose into a bucket) and gravity drain it to the bucket and keep emptying it until the bowl has no water in it.
If the above 2 do not fix the problem.... then you need a multi meter to measure if it is getting a power feed to the pump when the spin cycle comes on) - you should be able to see it spin the pump blade when it goes into the pump cycle.
3. Disconnect power to machine (or you may get shocked or injured)
4. you will need to try to spin the blades by hand.... if they are not free and nothing is jammed in there.... you will have to replace the pump.
5. If you have power at the pump connection when testing the spin cycle and the pump will not turn at all... then the likelyhood is the pump windings are stuffed and you will require a replacement.
If you need a replacement call the local service company and get parts (give them your model and serial ... and also the part number and voltage off the actual pump itself (this is critical as I have been caught out with a supplier importing one for me and it was 110VAC instead of 230VAC = common power in New Zealand)...
Hope this helps! BE SAFE!

Not spinning no draining no 120 volts to the pump no power for pump from machine control board replaced machine control board still have sam\e problem

Do you have the FAV6800A/FAV9800A Service Manual?

Did you measure 120VAC to the Drain Pump at the connector on the Drain Pump with power applied to the drain pump or at the Control Board Conn_P8 Pin 4 for Hot to neutral or cabinet ground?

Did you measure this while in Service Mode with the drain pump turned on in Service Mode?

Do you have the schematic of you FAV6800A? It is a FAV6800A correct?

What is the issue with not spinning? If you run a Spin Only cycle will the Spin cycle complete? Are you failing the Spin Cycle with unbalance errors such as DC or UC?

If you truly want to DIY the fix you need to go to a true DIY appliance forum such as this; I will continue to help you at that forum. This forum is terrible for posting pics and other info.

GE washer will not empty when put into spin cycle

If the washer spins but does not drain the water out, then your pump is not working. If it is a newer model, then it has a separate motor to run the pump than it has for the spin cycle. If this is indeed the case, then there are a few things that could cause this:

1) the pump itself is bad
2) the pump motor is bad
3) the timer isn't sending power to the pump motor.

depending on your level of mechanical competency, you could try to check at the pump to see/hear/feel if the pump seems like it is running during the drain/spin cycle. If it does not give any indication of movement, check the power going to the pump. There should be a connector the pump plugs into, check there for 120V A/C with the proper meter/test light. if the power is present and the motor isn't running, you've found your problem.

If the motor does sound like it's running, the pump itself is likely bad or you have a blockage in one of the hoses to or from the pump.

If no power to the pump motor, verify that you have the timer in the drain/spin cycle. If you do, then it is likely your timer is bad.

Hope this helps

What does 5d mean?

If suds are detected continuously by the pressure switch during the drain or spin phases, the washer will fill 4 liters ofwater and during 5 minutes the unit will rest without tumbling, the water will be drained and it will try to spin or drain again.

Possible Causes/Procedure
If too much detergent was used:
Run the unit through a RINSE/SPIN cycle.
Run a NORMAL cycle without adding any detergent.
This should clear the unit of the excess detergent.

1. Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked.
2. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
3. Check wire harness connections to the drain pump, pressure
switch, and Central Control Unit (CCU).
4. Check/clean drain pump filter of foreign objects.
5. Plug in washer or reconnect power.
6. Check drain pump.
7. Check the pressure switch.
8. Verify CCU operation by running a Diagnostic Test or any Cycle.

After a wash cycle, the letters UE appeared in the timer window..

UE = Unbalance error.
try to use a low spin speed with loads like rugs, and try to get as even a load as possible. (ie: not just one rug) Don't wash rubber backed rugs, as the backing can break up and clog your machine.

Now, if you are successful washing with the lowest spin speed, you can hold the " Spin Speed " button in while pressing on the power button. Release power button. Now release the spin speed button. Now, press the spin speed button until the next higher spin speed from your last successful spin. Press start. Your washer should now pump out and attempt to reach the new spin speed, without adding any water. (usually about a 14 minute pump and spin cycle) Don't expect to be able to spin out rugs at a high spin speed.
