I own a NIKON D300 it comes up with R21 if I use the two button reset I get R28 come up has anyone a solution please. David

Is this preventing you from shooting?
Normally the r-number simply indicates how many more shots you can take in the current burst before the buffer fills up and the camera has to slow down to save the pictures to the memory card. It's purely FYI and shouldn't stop you from shooting (until it gets down to r00).

Fee error on d300 with Sigma lens with aperture ring

Turn the aperture ring on the lens to its smallest setting (largest f/number) and then forget it's there. You can control the aperture from the camera body, the same way as on lenses without an aperture ring.

What does the red hand in the top right corner mean and what should i do about it??

The red hand in the upper-right corner is warning you that the shutter speed may be too slow to be handholding the camera. You can try adding light if possible, putting the camera on a tripod or other stable surface, or simply take a deep breath and shoot and hope for the best.

Nikon D300, purchased 14 months ago. Pictures are not as clear.

Try cleaning the contacts on the camera body and lens where they meet with a cotton swab lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol.

I don't know how to set the Nikon D300 for fast picture shooting.

Setting it to portrait mode should do it. Hold down the shutter button, it should be working. I'm not overly familiar with nikons, but otherwise it'll be in a menu mode if you switch it to a more manual setting. Probably under shooting mode. Set it to continuous shoot

Will Nikon D300 focus with the 11 point AF11 setting?

You may want to consider fine tuning the lenses. I understand that you want the shallow depth of field, but the lens is sharpest at the middle f stops. What is the comparison between a stationary object like an apple or grape (something with a circular shape). I understand you have a higher shutter speed, but the small movements of a person could cause variances in a single focus mode. Are you using the half-shutter press for focus or the AF-E button? Tripod? Remote shutter release?

I asked about the distance relative to the lens length because the DOF can really change based on this. I have found this recently with my macro work so I wanted to find out if you have experimented with this or fired a bunch of shots at a single setup.

FEE message in display when using 50mm lense

The FEE message indicates that the lens is not set to smallest aperture (highest number). The camera body expects this so it will have full control of the aperture. It sounds like you may be accidentally bumping or turning the aperture ring on the lens while using it or changing lenses. There is a little slide lock to lock it at f/22 to prevent this. Turn the aperture ring to 22 and move the slider so the white dot is next to the orange mark on the lens barrel.
