SOURCE: 1VCF2 Dayton Oscillating Wall Fan

The speed control switch which is what the cord is attached to has gone bad. You can get these from grainger.com for the dayton line of fans.

Hope this helps

SOURCE: my oscillating fan has stopped oscillating how can

This is my 3rd fan in the last two years I have bought. This time I thought by buying an expensive fan won't give any problems, but it is the same story.

Fan worked for couple of days, then it won't start again. I figured out from the noise it was making that it is due to friction. So I put some oil, then it started working, but it worked for a day only.

It is the regular fan, not the tower. Hope someone knows the answer for this.

SOURCE: can an oscillating fan be stopped from turning?

I have a large shop/garage fan on a 4-foot stand. It has oscillation connection that can be loosened using a knurled thumb nut.

I have a Holmes HAS1650 stand up fan and I need to know how to get it to quit rotating.

Not sure what you mean by "stop rotating"

I assume you mean to stop oscillating. There should be a knob on top of the motor housing that you push down to oscillate and pull up to stop oscillating.

If you mean to stop the blades from spinning there should be a fan speed control knob on the top of the motor housing that you turn to "O" to stop the fan.

Here is an instruction manual for a similar fan...

I have a 42" wind

the first thing to check is that the remote control is working and the control panel of the fan itself are working probably and i think they did but you have to check first
this fan oscillating control button is not a mechanical connection like the regular fan so if you are not using it wrong(and i think you don`t ) an if all the buttons are working -except the oscillating function - (and i think they are ) turn that thing back and test it at the shop

Could be fixable but until someone determines the problem there is no way of knowing if it is fixable. Could be a broken wire between the selector switch and the motor or the motor itself could be bad.
When you are trying to operate it does the fan motor get warm or hot? Does the fan turn freely?

Fan makes clicking noise when oscillating

inside the motor there is a nylon gear that is broken. the oscillation operates off a gear connected to the motor drive.
