Question about Canon Cameras

1 Answer

I attempted to unlock a 1.0 gb camera card today which has been locked. After attempting to unlock it using a utility knife (since the lever was missing) I gave up after trying to load and reload the locked card. Then when I reinstalled the other card (same type which was unlocked and in use today. This card now is unusable with the same message showing on the camera screen. Yet another card that is also unlocked was used and the same message again. I now cannot shoot photos since all three cards are identified as locked.????

Hi there.
Turn the camera on and go into the setup menu, look down the list for "reset" and reset it, then try another camera card.
Please post back the results.

"card protected " appears whenever i attempt a

Take the memory card out of your camera. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again. Then put the card back into the camera.

If that doesn't work, try another card.

C 750 olympus is not accepting 2 gb card

According to user manjual, Olympus C750 accepts XD cards up to 256mb only, But according to info made availble by Olympus it can take up to 512 mb cards.

I have never tried my self using othre than 128 mb card, except once I tried to use 1 gb card and it reported error saying 'cannot format'.

I bleieve Olympus hasn't made attempts to make availble a firmware upgrade as the camera doesnt have ne more etramemory to accept updates.

Hi due to so many questions asked about this here it is. How to deal with memory card locked/write protected error.

kilgourt.gif

SOLUTION 1 - Unlock the memory card.

There is a Lock switch on the left side of the SD card. Make sure the Lock switch is slid up (unlock position). You will not be able to modify or delete the contents on the memory card if it is locked.

SOLUTION 2 - Toggle the lock switch.

If the lock switch is not on lock:
1. Slide the switch up and down. Repeat this 3 times.
2. Let it stay on the Lock position for 30 seconds.
3. Slide the switch up to unlock the card.
4. Try to transfer files into the device.

For non-SD cards: Format the card

The data on the memory card may be corrupted.

WARNING: Formatting will delete all the files in the device. Backup all your data before formatting.

1.Download and install Sony EzRecover and attempt to use it to format the card (this will erase all content). If this doesn't work, try Step 4. 2.Delete and repartition the micro SD card using Windows XP. Select "Control Panel" > "Administrative Tools" > "Disk Management." Select the micro SD drive and click "Delete." Right-click on empty drive and select "New Partition."

When i attempt to delete pics from the camera it says card locked, how do i unlock the card

if you use an sd card on this camera you have to remove it and see that aside it has a locking device ..like a slide with 2 positions...probably yours is on locked and this protect the content and do not let you delete ...also look in the menu cause it might have a protection also ....somewhere related with the memory ...but most probably ..is the lock prom the card itself...

How can I change the "protected card" so that I can once again take pictures - and how can I keep this from happening again?

Pull your sd card out of the camera... there may be a lock tab along the left side of the card (label facing you and metal tabs up) the lock position is labeled... you can change it with your fingernail... make sure it's unlocked...

Let me know if you're up and running...
