Will not drain

My machine will not drain. I was told to look under the bottom to see if the belt is broken. How do I open the bottom of the machine up?

Why is my dishwasher light flashing and stopped half way through, the water will not empty checked filter for blockage and nothing??

Without knowing your model number, a blinking light can mean almost anything.

As for not draining, the motor drives an impeller which forces the drain water up and out of the drain hose. If you can detect the motor running during the drain cycle, then most likely there is a blockage in the drain line. If the motor doesn't run during the drain cycle the pump and motor assembly might need to be replaced.
If it is running, things that could cause a failure to drain include, broken impeller, failed drain solenoid, drain valve could be clogged with gunk (the solenoid opens the drain valve), clogged drain hose (tend to clog nearest the garbage disposal or sink tailpiece - remove and check to see if open), drain check valve could be clogged closed, or a broken pump belt.

Not all dishwashers have a belt, if you have the owners manual, try looking there first to see if yours has a belt, then check the belt. If you don't have an owners manual, try doing a search using your brand and model number to see if it has a belt. If it does have a belt (then I would suspect this as the first item to check for failure) it's located at the bottom of the machine. You remove the lower panel, (usually held on by 2 to 4 Philips or hex screws), and the then water pump belt is located on the bottom of the motor. (Belt runs from the motor pulley to the pump pulley). Belts just slips onto the pulleys, so no big deal to replace, but you must get the exact belt to replace.

Water is has not drained

Check the following to address this issue.

1. Clogged drain line or water pump
Check to see if there's something stuck inside the pump or the drain hose connected to the pump (pump is usually located at the bottom and towards the back of the washing machine).

2. Water Pump
If the drain line isn't clogged, you may have a problem with the water pump such as a frozen pulley or a broken impeller. If that's the case replace the water pump. Note: if you have a belt driven washer, check the belt(s) for cracks, as this would be a perfect time to replace the belt(s) if needed.

The dishwasher runs, but never seems to wash the dishes!

Make sure you get water to the dishwasher. Check to see if the water shut-off valve (located under the sink) is open. If you get water to the dishwasher, but there is still no water inside during the fill cycle, the problem might be with a faulty water valve (located at the bottom of the dishwasher, behind the kick panel, on either side), in which case replace the water valve.

Concerning the drainage issue(left over water at the bottom)

1. Air gap / Drain hoses
If there is an air gap (located in the sink, near the faucet), check to see if it is clogged. Unscrew the top cap and see if there is anything blocking inside. Note: If there is no air gap installed, the dishwasher might not drain properly.

If the drain hose is clogged, the dishwasher would not drain. If there is an air gap installed, it is very common that a hose going from the air gap into the garbage disposer is clogged. Remove and clean the hose. Make sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher.

Note: If you recently had a garbage disposer installed, it is common to overlook removing the drain plug.

2. Broken belt
Some dishwasher models use a belt to drive the pump. Replace the belt if found broken.

Note: Sometimes the belt would just come off the pump. Even though it might not be broken, it is recommended that you replace the belt, because it is probably too stretched out.

3. Pump
Some models have two impellers inside the pump - one, wash impeller, takes care of the wash cycles, the other, drain impeller, drains the water out. If the drain impeller is broken (broken blades, shaft), the dishwasher would not drain. Replace any broken pump components.

4. Drain solenoid
Some models (for example most GE dishwashers) use a drain solenoid to drain water out. Sometimes the solenoid gets stuck, preventing the water from draining out. Try to free up the solenoid. If unsuccessful, you might have to replace the pump assembly.

5. Motor
If the motor is stuck, it is sometimes possible to free it up by manually spinning the motor.

Replace the motor if defective.

6. Timer
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

Kenmore washer 80 series 110 model not spinning.

unless your washer is over 20 years old, then it wont have a belt. the temperature of the water wont have anything to do with it spinning or not.
need to know if it agitates or drains and just wont spin.
if it agitates but no spin or drain, then you have a bad lid switch.
if it wont agitate or spin, but will drain, then you have a broken drive coupling.

Whirlpool Ultimate Care HD Plus Model #LSR8233EQ0 won't agitate or spin

It sounds like the coupling between the motor and gearbox has worn out. It should cost around $15 plus shipping and handling.
