Question about Dell Computer Refurbished OPTIPLEX SX270 SYSTEM BOARD Computer Motherboard

1 Answer

PC won't start up

I have a packard bell imedia 1314. when turn it on it powers up. all the fans work, cd works but my monitor stays in of mode. all i can see is an orange led that stays on all the time until i power down. what is wrong????? I have a problem with my PC Packard Bell Imedia 1314. When I switch it on, it starts the power up sequence (a click is heard, probably a relay). The on/off switch is illuminated Yellow, not Blue as normal. The fans start up. Then there is another click (relay again?) the same as before, the fans stop and the whole sequence starts again over and over. The cycle time is about half a second. The only way to stop it is to pull the plug out of the back or at the mains.

was there a sudden power failure, or some storm in the area, do u hav a power-surge, if yes than disconnect it and put the power cables directly into the wall sockets.
probably ... wat i think is the monitor has gone bad.
    thx

Have you tried temporarily connecting a different power-supply?

Just connect the wires from the power-supply to the motherboard -- do NOT connect the power to the floppy-drive, the disk-drive, nor the CD-ROM drive. Then, boot it.

Newer monitor won't work with packard Bell R450

Wow, it's about time to dump the Packard Bell. Maybe the Video Card has gone bad in the Packard Bell and if you fix it your old monitor might work.

My Packard Bell A887 which is over 5 years old the video card seems to have gone in it .... The monitor drops off working after it has been started. Do I need a new video card ???

Hello,

To narrow down the problem try turning off and on your monitor a few times or try another monitor, if the issues persist your video card is probably the issue, while it can be something else as well based on what you have told us so far it sounds like it.

HI THERE MY PACKARD BELL 2215 IMEDIA WILL NOT BOOT UP. iT WAS WORKING PERFECTLY THEN IT CRASHED NOW IT STARTS, FANS SOUND, BUT THEN IT SWITCHES OFF, ANYONE HELP? X

Sounds like an overheating problem. Clean the dust out of it, make sure it can get air on all sides, make sure the fans are turning. If that doesn't work, unplug the computer, hit the power button 20 times, wait 1/2 hour and boot it up.

Hi when i start up my packard bell imedia i get a red light on my tower my fan is spining and my monitor is on a amber light plz help

Assuming the monitor is fine you can try the following:
  1. Open the machine and reseat the video card; if video card is onboard try
  2. Unplug the machine and remove the CMOS battery for a few minutes; Its possible Windows didn't shut down properly and CMOS is preventing a normal startup; after replacing the battery, boot up (will probably start up in safe mode
If neither of these fixes the problem, you may have an issue with the monitor itself. Best of luck.

Orange led on mother board

You have a hardware failure, most likely memory or video card. The first thing I would try is open the case and blow the dust out of it, especially dust on the memory modules and anywhere on the motherboard. Then try to boot the computer again. If that does not work I would start removing components one at a time and testing them.
