Re: error code

I found the answer on another site and was able to fix my camera myself. E24 means your LCD display has come unplugged. What happens if you rotate the screen too much you tighten up the wire and it pulls the connection out of its socket. There ar 4 screws on hedispla, unscrew ad take th back off the screen. Unwind the screen until the wires loosen up. Replug in the loose connector. Resecure the back

That's probably some sort of error code your camera is displaying. I know the most common codes are E18 and E24 on canons, for the E16 try going to the following website and emailing them: They just work on the canons and I'm sure they've dealt with this problem before. If you end up needing to have it serviced, that site is wonderful and about half the cost of what canon charges, plus they do amazing work on these powershot cameras.

When turing on my Canon SX100IS camera it opens the lense then closes and gives me an E24 error. I am able to replay phones on my SD Card but not take new pictures since the lense retracts

you get this error message E24 because your lens is slightly out of alignment. Cycling the camera on/off several times will serve to help the lens to work it's way back in alignment.
Even though your battery may be fully charged, as a Lithium Ion battery ages, it begins to lose capacity so you don't have enough power to take any still . Try a different battery.
Clean the battery contacts with a pencil eraser. Sometimes, a dirty battery contact can prevent the battery from providing all the current the camera needs.

Hope this helps.

Canon G9 reads E16. What should I do?

You can go to the website: and get their email address. They can help you for sure. They only service canon cameras and they are wonderful for help with the canons. Pretty much the place for help with a broken powershot and they charge about half of what canon does. The work with them is superb.

Why an ei6 error msg on canona630 suddenly after just taking pix?

The E16 error is a circuit board problem and is not user fixable. It needs to go to a Canon service facility. Try to get it fixed under warranty, if possible. If not, get an estimate before repairing, as price may be prohibitive. Weigh repair costs against replacing with a new camera.

E16 error

Hi there.
E16 Error code means (on all canon compacts) that there is something wrong with the lens mechanism and it cannot contract/extract/focus etc. Basically, if the problem is not fixed by removing the batteries for 20 minutes and reinstalling them (make sure they are fully charged) then you'll have to take it into a shop or get a friend who knows a lot about this stuff to take it apart.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

Canon G9 has E16 error message-won't turn on

The likely has a short that is causing that E16 Error Code. Since it likely needs a part replaced, you can try this site: They'll fix any Powershot problem, these are the only models they work on. They are about half the price of Canon for Service and they do excellent work. They exclusively do the Canon Powershot cameras only, they're the guys if you need help with a problem on one of these cameras.
