I have recently upgraded 2 amps in my boat to the pdx series. After disconnecting 2 other amps and utilizing the existing wiring, once the system was turned on while the boat motor is running I have terrible engine whine. I didn't have that with the previous brand amps.
any idea what would cause this from the new amps?

Disconnect all speaker leads from the PDXf4 - test. If the amp turns on and says on ok - then turn off, and attach one speaker lead at a time until it turns off. When it does check that speaker and the speaker wire to see if it is blown, shorted out etc.
First off excellent choice on audio equipment, i guarantee you won't be disappointed. So your subs are dual coil 2 ohms. So wire each individual sub in series. If you don't know what this means i'll explain. On each sub there are 2 sets of wire terminals. Connect a wire from the one set's - to the other set's +. Do this on both subs and you will have the coils wired in series making each sub 4ohms. Now to hook the subs together you'll need to wire them in parallel. Now since you have your coils in series, on each sub you have one + terminal and one - terminal left. So run a wire from the + terminal remaining on each sub, and run them to your amp. Splice the ends of the two wires together and plug them into the + speaker output of the amp. Connect the two negatives in the same way and plug them into the - port on the amp. You will now have your amp running at its desired 2ohms. When wiring this disconnect the fuse on your amp power wire to avoid short problems. And if you get confused at all, and aren't sure what to do, ask again don't guess, if its done wrong you could severely damage your equipment. Hope this helped, enjoy the bass...
You've pretty much hit the nail on the head. Two 2 ohm subs in parallel would give you 1 ohm, and two 2 ohm subs in series would give you 4 ohms. 1 ohm would be overloading the amp but 4 ohms is slightly "underloading" the amp.
Your best solution with the gear you have (i.e. not buying new subs or a new amp) is to put the subs in series (4 ohms). True, you'll be putting about 200W into each sub, but according to page 4 of the owner's manual for the subs, 200W is just a tad under the optimum level recommended for the sub anyway.
Power source voltage is too high (aka above 14.5V).
The easiest thing to do is to try removing the connections to the speakers at the amp and see if the issue disappears after each set has been disconnected. Keep removing wires until both LEDs stay blue.
You may have a problem with the power source feeding the amp. You need to check the voltage across the amplifier's B+ and ground terminals when the amp is playing/cutting off. If it's dropping below ~11 volts, you need to determine why it's dropping so low.
it will depend on how you use the 2 alpine subs,, do you know what there individual impedance is [ ohms ] and how you intend on wiring them,,,in series, in parallel, in any case you must maintain the min load in order to load the amplifier properly,,,otherwise the amplifier will operate improperly and allow DC [ direct current ] to pass and fry your subs...so what I really need is more in formation
