Gateway 5300 solo fan control and heat monitering

Is there a way to control the fan/heat limits on the 5300 gateway solo? I downloaded a software speedfan, which is cool, but is there a xp control or other maker utility? by the way, I just bought some new batteries and this unit is still a work horse! love the screen.

Look in the BIOS of your gateway laptop and see if there is way in there to control temperature.

I believe gateway locks their heat limits. But in order to change it you should be able to inside of the BIOS/CMOS/SETUP when first starting the machine.

DISH Solo DVR VIP612 Limited Mode

What is DISH Solo DVR VIP 612 Limited Mode?

You can program your remote control in Limited Mode to keep from accidentally changing the channel on your TV or VCR and causing a snowy or blue screen.

  • When the remote control is in Limited Mode for TV mode, you will only be able to use POWER, MUTE, and VOLUME functions for your TV.
  • When the remote control is in Limited Mode for VCR mode, you will only be able to use POWER and the VCR functions for your VCR.
Note: Limited Mode is not used with amplifiers (AUX mode).

I hope that helps.

Wireless switch on model solo 5300

Hi. Not enough information. Do you want a switch? Do you need to FIND a switch? Is it a Gateway notebook?
The specifications for the Gateway Solo 5300 do not indicate a wireless system as part of the original unit.
See:
http://support.gateway.com/s/manlib/Notebooks/Solo5300/8508144/8508144.htm

Most units with PC100 memory (like this one) did not come with wireless. You will likely need a wireless PCMCIA card.

Don't remember password on bios of a gateway solo

Simplest is to remove the battery for a while so the password is lost.

Gateway solo 5300 motherboard

Here's what you gotta do. You have to remove the keyboard, which is pretty easy. I took 2 razor blades for utility knives and gently pressed in the 2 tabs that hold it in- the one on the left is located between the "alt" key and spacebar, while the one on the right is between the windows and "ctrl" key. It'll pop up slightly, then you can lift it out. You'll want to remove its electrical connector too. Now, look at the edge of the plastic on the left side where the heat sink is...you'll see one small screw that's holding you back. Once you remove that, unplug the other 2 visible electric connectors and you're good to go.
