Question about Dell Latitude CPI Notebook

2 Answers

Password problem I recently bought a Dell Latitude CPi A, however it has an admin password on it. The guy claims he doesn't remember the password so there's no way to get into it. It won't read CDs or Floppy disks at start up because the boot order isn't set up for it (I guess anyway). The boot order is 1: Floppy, 2: HardDrive, 3: CD-Rom, and I can't change it with out the admin password. That means I can't reformat or reinstall. Is there anything I can do as I spent the rest of my money buying the thing and can't pay anyone to take off the password. I HAVE A DELL INSPIRON 1420 AND IT WAS GIVEN TO ME AND MY WIFE AS A INGAGMENT GIFT BUT IT'S ASKING FOR A SYSTEM OR ADMIN PASS WORD IT WON'T READ A BOOT DISC AND MY FREIND SAYS HE DIDN'T PUT A PASSWORD UP PLZ HELP.....

Um to remove bios password remove the bios battery and laptop battery and its gone. bios battery looks like a big flat watch battery. its on the motherboard wait 10 minutes reinstall bios battery and put everything back to together no password in bios. your welcome.. 1 other thing the pc should automatically go to hardrive after floppy when it don't find anything so hopefully harddrive is ok.....

Hi there.
If the laptop was bought for you as a engagement gift and your friend has proof of purchase then Dell will be able to give you the master password as bios passwords cannot be cracked that easily.
Here is Dell customer support site >>>>>>

Good luck and thanks for choosing FixYa!!

Need to delete bios password on a dell latitude cpi r400gt

I have just done this. One needs to dismantle the laptop first. Solder a push button switch with extended wires across pins 4&5 of the serial eeprom 24c02. Then reconnect the screen, keyboard & a/c power pack. with a tooth pick press power on switch whilst holding push button on. When the factory mode screen comes on release the push button. Next go to bios setup F2 and ALT-p to the password page. Now enter your new password this will overwrite the old pass word. My approach is slightly different to this following method as it is les likely to brick the laptop.

I can get into the bios but cant change anything because i dont remember the Admin password. This is a Dell Latitude 531 How do i get the password?

Contact Dell tech support 800-624-9896 (USA) confirm you are an authorized user of the system and they will assist with generating a master password, There is no universal password or jumper to manually reset it, you have to contact Dell.

Password problem

Christophe Grenier has written a program that will calculate the master BIOS password for Dell Latitudes from the Service Tag number.

Get it here.

http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~skynet/zips/latitude.exe

Go into a command-session (or DOS-box) in any OS you like.
Go to the directory with the LATITUDE.EXE program in it (size is only 5,467).
Type in latitude 12345 and hit enter. You have to substitute 12345 with your 5-character service tag number. The program then gives you the password.
Simple (if you know how to).

NOTE*** that some antivirus programs might indentify this file is a "hacktool" that is perfectly ok, the file indeed is a "hacktool" but it does not do anything "bad" to your computer.
That is it only does what has been explained in this thread and that classifies it as a hacktool...

REMOVE PASSWORD LOCK ON OLDER DELL LATITUDE LAPTOP

if you are referring to a BIOS password, you need to contact dell tech support for this one. if you are referring to a windows password, you can go to safemode, logon as administrator(normally admin account doesn't have any passwod) , and remove the password the user account you want to logon to.

Hi , If you have forgotten the BIOS Password there is only one way either you give your PC to an expert or you need to open the PC and reset the jumper in the motherboard.

Dell latitude cpi is locked

When you say locked, do you mean password? If so, is it a bios password or Window operating system password?
