Question about Sony CDX-M600 CD Changer
I have this unit( Sony CDX-M600) in a truck that sat about a year and a half. It was working fine when I parked it. Now it will only play CDs it will not pick up any FM stations at all. I checked to make sure nothing had chewed into the antenna wire and even plugged a different antenna with no luck. Any ideas short of buying a new one? CD WORKS FINE.NO SOUND FOR RADIO STATIONS APPEARING TO COME IN NORMAL ON DISPLAY..HELP!
Since you disconnect the battery, and CD WILL play, a code is not needed. They radio plug at the back of the stereo, might have came out. Check to see if this is securely connected to the stereo. Also check the radio wire at the back of the stereo to make sure there is no break. Some causes of the radio not fucntionly properly are the wire is not connected, the wire is damaged, antennas is damaged or the antenna is no good. The antennas rarely goes. Good luck.

Probably need the anti-theft code to get the radio working again

i resolved this myself in the end.
I unplugged the audio & power cables whilst the stereo and engine was running.
Then plugged back in.
I turned the engine off and stereo off as well.
I then unplugged audio and power again from the back of the CDX, left it unplugged for 10 minutes whilst the engine was still off.
I then plugged the leads back in and turned the engine on. the stereo recognised the CDX, but stayed on displaying "CD Checking". I switched to radio for 20 seconds, turned back to CDX and it selected CD 1 and has been good ever since.
I'm rather pleased with myself!

SOURCE: Sony CDX-GT310. Installed by
Called a shop in VA and their opinion was that the tuner section of the unit failed. Cost of the part, $80. Then, labor and shipping. I can buy the new model (GT320) for about $95. I opted for buying a new unit.

Don't know if you have an external antenna or one mounted in windshield but you should be able to find the coaxial heading towards the back of the radio. Make sure that it is plugged into the radio.
