As step number one, always try compressed air to blow out the accumulated dust in the fan. It is not uncommon this is all it takes. If you don't have a compressor there is "compressed air" on cans that works fine for these purposes.

It's not only by blowing air into the fan. 1.- Go out and buy thermal paste. Open heat sink cover (next to memory cover) only 4 screws. 2- Remove 2 screws over the processor 3- Remove heat sink completely and you will notice a hell of a lot of dust that will not be removed othewise, Blow off and blow on fan to clean also. That should resove the problem if after that you have noise and excessive heating then the fan has to be replaced. To disassemble completely go to

And:

These instructions not necessarily match your Notebook but are pretty close to reality you should not have any problems by being patient, careful and armed with the proper tools. Hillar

Did you try blowing it out with compressed air 1st?.
Sometimes it's just dirty and plugged up with dust.

Sony vaio vgn-sz430n cooling fan how to replace it

Below is a link to the official Sony Vaio VGN-SZ430N Disassembly and Assembly manual. It provides step-by-step instructions for disassembling your Viao notebook to replace the fan. Please note, however, that this process is quite complicated and should not be attempted unless you have considerable experience servicing computers. You WILL need to almost completely disassemble your machine to perform a fan replacement. If you have any hesitance at all about this undertaking, consult with a professional before starting.

My Sony Vaio laptop makes a lot of noise mostly it seems from the fan. This is intermittent but seems to happen when I have had the laptop on for a long time. What might be causing this and is this serious...

Your processor is probably getting too hot. When it gets hot, the fan speed will increase. You will heed to have the processor heat sink checked, cleaned, and new thermal paste applied to it. You will also need to clean your cooling fans if they are dirty.

Hi . is vgn sz430n the same as PCG 6Q1L ?? I

Yes, VGN-SZ430N is similar to the PCG-6Q1L.
The only difference between the two coding is that the first one is the model # of the Computer used by the technical support team or sales support team for providing assistance however, the later is the Hardware configuration code of the Computer that categorizes a few models.

Hi, I use the air cool product from www.pwx.cc that allows you to move the laptop constantly to prevent a hotspot on your desk. I think it may work for you.
