There may not be a zoom option but there should be a ratio setting i.e 16x9,4.3 letter box i had that problem and found it in my display settings my screen resolution was changed to 16x9 zoom

Tv picture is zoomed in. How do I reset the picture size to original setting without the original remote control?

Do a factory reset. There are two methods to reset TVs. Hard reset and factory reset. To make it a hard reset unplug the set from the AC mains wall socket and reinsert after an hour or so. To make a factory reset you have to enter it's service mode option. I have a sony bravi xbr ;the picture is sooo big i can't read the subtitles . i tried ti fix it ( from the instruction manual ) but nothing work . thank you !

Hi: Check you screens format button to change screen sizes, this button may also be labeled Aspect. Seems you are in ZOOM Mode, these buttons can also be found on cable boxes remote as well try pushing them to see if screen size change. If this does'nt help then do this with the TV in off posistion. Press the Display key on your remote, Then the Five key, then the Vol up key, then press power key. This will turn set on in service mode, you will see service options do not do anything but press the number 8 on remote and hit enter. This will rest tv to factory settings. All video setups and parameters you have set in user menu will result back to factory and will need to be redone. TV should shut down on its own and come back on on channel 3.

Wide screen mode won't go back to "normal".

Was exactly what you said. The cable box settings were in wide mode. Couldn't figure it out at all. Funny thing was too.. on my cable box remote, the button under the #9 button is the # button.. it doesn't say zoom at all.. but it totally controls the zoom.

So thanks for that.. AND thanks for saying "under the #9 on the cable remote" instead of just saying .. the zoom button.

Thanks again!!!

The picture is bigger than the screen... Picture is cut off and when I unscrewed the back of the tv I could see that the picture was showing perfect but it was to big for the screen... There's not a way to...

Have you tried hitting the format picture button on your remote control. Seems the picture is in zoom mode. If you have a cable box for HD Channels then look on the remote for a button (format) or Screen size.

My picture is to big for the screen

have you tried resizing it with the button again ?
some channels just will not look as good in a zoom or aspect ratio when they are older recorded movies that are not digital recorded or in HD ( high definition )

The picture on my tv is too big

The other poster was right, there is a zoom button on my CABLE REMOTE and once I pressed that my problem was solved. It's funny none of the techs knew that, at either Vizio or Comcast.
Hope this helps.

Model 51f59a hd widescreen aspect settings dont take and picture too big

I called Hitachi and the solution is in your cable remote not your tv remote. Your tv has a aspect menu as does your cable remote. Based on your cable provider you should have a settings or menu button to change the zoom or aspect of your screen. I had the same problem and have Comcast as cable and this worked for me.
