How do I install a daisywheel

  • quicktype Feb 27, 2008

Can you help urgently! My AX100 Typewriter, (always proved reliable and no reason to do this now), has suddenly 'locked me out' - it sometimes types the completely wrong letters I have typed, but I can sort that. This time, I must have pressed a 'code' inadvertently, but nothing at all is coming up. The hammer is not striking the daisy wheel at all. Can you advise. thanks, Julie.

Linda, first of all, does the daisy wheel spin when the typewriter is first turned on? if it does, then you will feel assured that it is installed properly. Next, refer to your manual to key board settings. It will indicate that there are settings for normal standard English keyboard and somehow that setting may have been changed. It would be also be important to check the daisy wheel to see if it is compatible with standard English keyboard...Cheers, John

Remove the printwheel and look for bent or broken spokes, look for debris in the P/W area, try it without the correction tape, if you have the wrong type tape or it is twisted there will be a problem.

My Brother GX6750 is the wrong typing letters

Printwheel in wrong. release the printwheel, make sure the pin is aligned with the slot on the hub and snap it back in. The printwheel should spin, then home out to the left margin, then it should be ok. Check to make sure no pedals on the printwheel are bent.

WHEN TYPING A HALF SPACE IS SKIPPED OCCASIONALLY AND WILL NOT CORRECT THE LETTER TYPED, IS THE LETTER WHEEL REPLACABLE?

To answer your question yes the print wheel can be changed, BUT that is not your problem. The machine needs to be reset or the reset tab needs adjusting.

Background;

When you turn on the machine the print head moves to the right side, the print wheel spins, and the ribbon jumps up and down, that is the machine resetting its self.

I would

  1. Power it off and then turn it back on and test to again.
  2. If it's still typing the wrong or unreadable letters then turn off the power open the lid. On the bottom of the case there is a metal frame on the right side of the frame you will see a small metal tab pointing towards the print head.
    1. (When the machine resets its self, it uses that tab as a reference.)
  3. That tab is easily bent which causes the reset to be wrong. Most people can bend it by hand, DON'T use a pliers! The tab can break off completely. It doesn

I OPERATE A BROTHER GX6750 TYPEWRITER. i NEED TO CLOSELY COMPACT MY NUMBERS TO FIT A TYPE SPACE. HOW DO I ACHIEVE CLOSE TYPING? THANKS

There is either a slide switch labeled 10, 12 & 15 or a botton you press that changes indicator lamps to those numbers. Go to 15
(15 letters per inch} tou may also want to get a 15 pitch printwheel.

Major fault. Daisy-wheel sensor is losing position.
Probably a a motherboard fault, and beyond economic repair. Sorry.

Hi there. Take out the printwheel and see if any of the spokes are bent. That would cause wrong letters. . Also if the print solenoid(piston) does not go in and out freely. Lawrence
