I need to replace the vertical mullion on our Jenn Air "french door" refrigrator. Never replaced one before. The part arrives in a couple days. Any tips on installing this part? (Other than don't electrocute yourself)

SOme tape like masking tape has helped keep this kind of heater in place while reassembling. this is about the only trick I can suggest havent replaced all that many before either. And the ends should be covered with heat shrink or tape over the wire nut or crimp connection.

Leave as much of the old wire as you need to make up the connection to thew wiring not the heater its self. (You probably know this but just in case).

Oh yea before removing the pannel and going to all that trouble tape the heater up to the exterior frame to make sure you have the one thats long enough. If its a little longer you may find the origonal was longer too and it may have over lapped someplace and this would be my main suspect place for the burn out. And always check if you havent already fro your proper voltage at the heater connection before removing the existing heater. A bad switch (ecconomizer, power saver, turn on in humid weather) could cause the same problem and do all this work for naught. (I bet you've done this already though)

If this helps you please rate me as high as possible and thanks for using fix ya.

May tag plus madel MBB2256GEW has condensation between the closed refrigerated and bottom freezer door . We already replaced the seal on the frig. but no luck, I open the frig door and it drips .

This is likely condensation that occurs when the surface of the door frame (the part the gaskets close against) drops below dew point. Dew point is the temperature at which moisture condenses and varies from day to day depending on temperature and humidity. Refrigerators have a "dew point compensator" that is either an electric mullion heater or a "Yoder" loop made up of a part of the condensor coil. Both supply a small amount of heat that keeps the surfaces above dew point. Be certain your box doesn't have a switch for "Energy Saver". If it does, then turn off the energy saver. This switch controls the mullion heater. Turning the energy saver off - and the mullion heater on - will prevent more moisture from forming. It will NOT remove moisture already there, just wipe that off first. Other external causes could be a HVAC duct blowing cold air on the refrigerator, a refrigerator/freezer door left slightly ajar or (the worst case) a separated heater inside the case. (On a foamed in place cabinet this is not repairable.)

I need to replace a spring in the mullion on my fridge. Anyone have a link to the repair manual for instructions on removing the mullion?

Use your model number and order the mullion assembly before you dismantle the old one... Looking at the new part will show you how and what to remove, in most cases... Samsung Refrigerator Spring DA81 01345B cannot be replaced on it's own. You will need a part more like this: DA97-06417Q, Order it with your model number to ensure the correct fit.

Why doesn't the mullion heater snap back after I open the door?

Hello Al;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

All is good. Your Mullion heater snaps back when you open the door because it is spring loaded. When you close the door the springs ensure that the mullion is flush and tight against the front of your unit.
The purpose of the mullion heater is to provide low heat to eliminate any moisture (condensate) created by the warm air in the room.

How do I replace the bottom socket where the door hinge slides in

I assume you mean the hinge that is on the cabinet and not the door? If its the door part that has failed, you will need to get a new door. If its the cabinet hinge, some of these are screwed onto the cabinet from underneath the fridge. Others however, are mounted inside the cabinet and are not really designed for replacement. Ive fixed a few over the years on different brands where the plastic hinge has broken but it can be a bit messy. The cabinet needs to be carefully peeled or bent back on the bottom corner of the fridge to access where the hinge is mounted. Unscrew the hinge and if you are lucky, the Manufacturer has these as a spare part. If not, the only way is to go to a hardware or cabinet parts store to try and source something that will suffice. Do NOT be tempted to put a normal gate or door hinge onto the fridge door and screw it onto the cabinet. Inside the cabinet especially around the edges are whats called "mullion heater" pipes or in older fridges, mullion elements. If you screw through a pipe, you will lose the gas and fridge will be shot. If you screw through an electrical mullion heater, there is a danger of electrocution.

Any way to adjust the left hand door higher as the centre mullion no longer engages with the bracket that is supposed to make it pivot as the door opens and closes

the plastic bushings may have worn and need to be replaced, but you could try to place some washers on the bottom of the pivots to raise the door

Freezer working but refigerator not...

Mullion heater is not the problem. If the refrigerator is not cooling look to the freezer compartment for your problem. Air from the freezer is used to cool the refrigerator(s) section. If the freezer coil frosts up it stops air circulation to the rest of the system. Although you may think the freezer is working properly it may have a defrost problem and will show up there also. Look for signs of frost on the back wall of the freezer as a sign of the coil freezing. The mullion heater is designed to put out just enough heat to stop condensation between the outside temperatures and the inner compartmant temperatures. If the inner compartment is warm the heater will seem warmer than normal.

Fridge is getting hot in between the doors

This is called a mullion heater and is perfectly normal as this heater prevents the area between the doors from freezing. No danger at all.

Door inner edges Hot (center)

This area is called the mullion and should be a little warm so it doesn't sweat. If it is too hot then two things could be the problem. 1. The condensor is plugged (dirty) and needs to be swept out. 2. The condensor fan motor is not working. This cools the condensor coils and is mounted in the back of the fridge behind the bottom panel.
