Question about Maytag SkyBox MBV1976A Beverage Dispenser

1 Answer

It does not continuously run and it is not cold

The unit will kick on, run for a short time, and then kick off. It does this continuously and temperature is not cold at all. can hear the compressor kick on and the fan runs, but it seems that only the top row is getting cold. Should you feel the fan blowing on all the rows?

Portable A/C: Compressor runs intermittently and doesn't cool room

Your issue sounds like either a bad "pressure switch" or that the unit is low on "Freon." Either of these problems will cause the compressor to start and run shortly then compressor cuts off, then and repeats itself.

From your description It really does Not seem to be a "bad board in that unit" because the compressor is starting up, even though the compressor is not staying on long enough to cool said area.

The freezer doesn't freeze that good but the refridgerator does work.

It is possible that the defrost cycle is not working. Look for signs of ice built up in the freezer compartment. The excess ice prohibits the air circulation.

26128165-5xkmzur1kbcrfneaoxy43scu-3-0.jpg If defrost cycle appears working and compressor runs continuously it is probable that the Freon is low or compressor is failing.

the usual tell is the refrigerator gets colder than usual and the freezer does not get as cold. The situation is that the compressor runs until the freezer temperature is satisfied. If the compressor can not achieve the cold temperature of the freezer it will run continuously.

When the unit runs continuously the bi-pass of air is increased bringing more cold air into the refrigerator portion of the unit.

Window unit cooling good but does not kick off cooling

Could be one of two things - the contactor is welded shut causing the compressor to run continuously - or the temperature control sensor which cycles the compressor on and off needs replacing.

Now if you turn the temperature control switch fully clockwise to the cooling mode and then start to turn it counter clockwise. You should hear a click indicating the temperature control switch is working.

That only leaves the compressor contactor as the problem.

These units are complicated and you probably need a technician to take a look at it. Also depending on how old it is, it may be just as economical price wise to replace it.

I have a dometic penguin ac rooftop unit. Model no. 630215.421. Fan blows Compressor does not kick on. Fan blows just no cold air. If put on auto and go up or down in temperature On the thermostat The fan...

Bad run capacitor or bad compressor. If you hear an occasional click from the compressor try a new run cap and then a hard start kit. Otherwise it's more economical to purchase a new unit.

Neither the freezer or fridge get cold. In fact, both compartments are warmer the room temp. The light comedy on and you can hear it run but you can hear a click like the compressor is trying to kick on. ...

the clicking is the compressor overload tripping. you can try a relay kit part number RCO410 available at any appliance parts supplier. this replaces the relay, overload and start capacitor. you might want to check continuity on the compressor terminals first and check for a short to ground. If shorted or open then the compressor is bad.

Many times a freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many other things that can go wrong.

If you are hearing a clicking or buzzing then check out the last two tips.

If your refrigerator is running but warm, then…

Check out this tip that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...

Compressor appears to kick in, runs for short time

It sounds like your unit may have a bad run capacitor or start capacitor and relay. Low voltage will also cause this problem. First you need to make sure that you have the full rated voltages at the unit, if you do, then, have the run and start capacitors checked out and the start relay.

The AC unit stops blowing

It sounds like the compressor is kicking in and out. There are several things that can cause this to happen. The most common and easiest cause for the homeowner to correct is a dirty coil. There are two coils.....evaporator and condensor. The evaporator coil is the coil that is protected by the air filter that you clean at least once a month. The condensor coil is the coil exposed to the outside. If either (or both) are dirty, it will eventually cause the compressor to kick out on internal overload. Inspect your coils and clean them thoroughly. If after cleaning the coils, you continue to have a problem, let us know and we will dig deeper to help you.
I hope you find this information to be very helpful to you as a solid jumping off point moving forward. :-)
