SOURCE: turn on wireless with function key hp laptop

Assuming this is the DV7 series laptop you picked when you posted there is a small wireless key above the keyboard(not embedded in the F keys) that shout be orange with the wireless picture displaying if it has been turned of.

press the key and wait about ten seconds and it should be fine.

If the key doen't turn blue then you may have a "real" problem, if it does you should be fine.

What function keys do I use to get a wireless connection?

Have you tried using the function keys? There is a row of keys at the top labeled F1 though F12, they also have symbols. Find the one that looks like one of these, press and hold the function enable key that is like at the bottom of your keyboard and then select the button you found in the top row.

most laptops just have a software switch now, usually it is a function on the F keys or the number keys at the top. Your typical wireless symbol looks like a stick with a few parenthesis around it. All you should have to do is hold down the function key and press the corresponding key that belongs to the wireless on/off function. This feature typically only works with Windows though so if you are using another operating system you are on your own.
