Great it worked out.
If you need help burning the recovery iso to a disk let us know.
Click this:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/docum...
Or copy and paste it into your browser and press enter to connect.
Once there just follow the instructions
Or I can do it for you,
What is your Product number?
If for some reason you can't download it, or order one.
You will need to buy a Windows XP Disk from any store, or online.
Or try on ebay.
I can get you one, and mail you one if you want.
But I've ran into issues like what your having before. What you need to know is you don't need the Recovery CD that came with your PC to recover it, you can use any Operating System Disk to install it. Only difference is there was pre installed software on that recovery disk.
Can you access the desktop?
If so do this:
Press:(All at the same time)
CTRL + ALT + S
That will bring up your info.
If you can't do that, your model number should be on the back,or side of the CPU(the big ass part of the desktop)
Product number looks like:
DA203A-ABA
More info here:

What is your product number, I can check for you.

Hi, i have an old compaq presario 5522 with windows 98, it has not been used for ages, when i try to start it up goes through the memory test and stops with just a blinking cursor, i can't start in safe mode or get the BIOS up using the F2 key, the dvd drive does not work it lights up but will not read a disk, i have loaded a diagnostic start up floopy disk and got the start up screen i can't see the D drive, It lists the A floopy drive and hard drive, I have also tried resetting it to the defaults on the start up screen and also checked all the cables and it still will not work,
