Re: Maytag Dryer

You can order a side vent kit for it or make one yourself. The kit has a couple of extensions and an elbow that will turn the exhaust out the knock out on the side. You can pick up everything you need at the hardware store but the kit has precut pieces and installation instructions. If it is not a big inconvienience to wait for it, I would recommend you order the kit through a maytag dealer or sears. That way you have the right pieces and instructions to follow.

Water coming out of the back of the dryer

When a dryer usually produces visable water from any part of it's self, the suggestion would be a completely restricted vent line. Such restrictions could be from nests from animals, excess lint, a dip in the vent hose causing lint and water to collect. Since the dryer is leaking water, it is heating and therefore creting steam in an effort to dry the cloths, with a clogged vent the steam has no where to escape to and thus condenses within the dryer and leaks out. The vent needs to be checked by a wualified vent servicing company from the back of the dryer to the point of exit of the home. Pleazer Appliance...

I have a Maytag Bravos dryer. When I emptied the lint trap part of what was on it fell off and now my dryer won't run. I have cleared the vent and hose

When you say part of what was on it fell off was this lint or a piece of the dryer? If the switch on the door has broken the dryer will not run. In this case you will need to replace the switch / lever.

My dryer takes multiple runs to try an average load of clothes

Check your vent on the back of the dryer and also make sure the vent hood on your house is opening up all the way. Something could be blocking the air flow.

Dryer not getting enought airflow to outside dryer vent

Normally it is six feet and not more than two bends, if it has been doing this you have buildup in the ducts and need to clean the ducts. I would suggest you make a new hole to address the problem. Also if you have a plastic pipe sometimes they develope a flap those blocks or slows the air down you can’t see this unless it is in dry mode. Any blockage will slow the air down allowing particles to drop down and gradually plug the vent, if the bends are too tight it to will slow down air flow and cause the same thing I suggest you cut the length of the hole to stop this problem if you can, it is not hard to do and I can give you the instructions if you post here.

Dryer lint throughout the house

Four Screws holding the exhaust pipe that the hose connects to on the lower back of the dryer. Remove those screws and pull the pipe out - It has a rubber gromet on the inside end that should fit onto the opening on the inside of the dryer. May need a flashlight to see inside while aligning it when putting it back in.

Takes 2 hours to dry

Having a vertical vent that runs up inside a wall or in the attic is one of the worst set ups you can provide for a dryer. This could very well be the cause of your problem. Rule of thumb: the SHORTER and STRAIGHTER the ducting, the better. Anywhere there is a bend, sag or kink in the vent tubing it presents a potential spot for lint to accumulate. With vertical runs, gravity eventually wins and lint will start fill up in the vent line and starve the dryer for air. What is happening to your dryer is that it is actually overheating because it is not ventilating properly. If allowed to run in its current condition, the dryer will eventually fail. The thermal cut-out and/or heating element will not take this condition for very long (not to mention you run a good possibly of creating a FIRE HAZARD). I would strongly recommend cleaning the entire vent line from where it leaves the back of the dryer to where it exits your home. I would then consider rerouting it if possible. If in doubt, a simple test to determine if the problem is your dryer, or the ventilation is to remove the vent line from the back of the dyer and run one load. If the air leaving the dryer is forceful and warm, clothes dry properly and the dryer does not get real hot, you have a vent line problem. If the air is weak, cold and clothes still take a long time to dry, the problem is inside the dryer (probably a clogged blower fan assembly). Post back if you have any further questions/concerns. I hope this helps you find the source of your problem.
