The code is "PS" for Pressure Switch and means there is insufficient pressure to operate (low flow) or the switch itself is bad.

It means there is none or insufficient pressure to operate. If your pump is on, try cleaning the filter. That worked for me.

What does p5 on display mean

Thank you for posting your question here on

I believe your code is PS, not P5, and it means the pressure switch is open.

That unit will not fire until you resolve the pressure switch issue; either the flow is reduced too low and the pump/filter system needs to be thoroughly cleaned or the switch or control board has failed and need to be repaired.

Start with a cleaning of all baskets and filter to see if the light clears and the heater works; if not look at replacing the pressure switch. It is not uncommon for the switches to fail but check it with a meter set to ohms if you can. Power off the heater first and pull one of the wire leads off. Put the probes on the terminals with the pump running and see if you have a circuit. If not, replace it. If the switch tests fine the problem is in the control board and it will need to be replaced.

OP error code. What is wrong with my Hayward pool

OP is the error code for a faulty Temperature Sensor. Try replacing the Temperature Sensor. I have seen many of these units have the wires chewed up by mice, etc., so you may want to check the wiring for any damage.

My hayward pool heater is displaying P5 and the fan is not moving. what does this mean?

You heat pump is actually displaying "PS" for Pressure Switch. Either there is not enough water flow or the switch could be bad. If you have a sand filter, put the filter head in the "bypass" mode and try again. If the heater works, filter problem. If not, heater problem. Instruction book found here:

LP (low pressure fault) is on screen.

Low pressure is usually a dirty filter ob basket. If you have a by-pass on the plumbing you can shut this down a little to get more flow through the heater. Or you may have a clog in your pump impeller. Hope this helps.
