Question about Freezers

Frigidaire won't make ice & dispenses only about 4 oz. cold water

I place the arm for the ice maker up, in the off position during the winter, and no, I didn't shut off the water supply to the fridge. So, now my ice maker made a few cubes, and has stopped doing so. The arm will not stay in the 6:00 position, rather it seems to stay in the 4:00 position. The water dispenser in the door gives you about 4 oz. of cold water, then stops dispensing. It makes all the sounds like it's working, but it's not. Also, when the water supply is on, the fridge makes a loud banging noise like there is someone inside trying to get out! Here's what I have done so far: Replaced the water filter twice, yes there is water in it but this did NOT help, I removed the water supply from the back where it feeds into the plastic line and the water IS flowing from the water supply line. Reconnected the lines, cleaned the dust off the fan, reconnected the electrical selinoids. Ran the water dispenser for 2 minutes to get any air out, but that didn't work either. I have now put the ice arm in the Off position and shut the water supply off at the water inlet downstairs. This has actually stopped the Banging noise! Please help! Thanks in advance. Oh, I don't have the Model number with me right now, it's FRT something, 23.8? cuft, it's 9 years old. Hope this helps. I can get it when I get home later.

Water frozen in the freezer supply line - you need to thaw out the freezer. About six hours, door open, turn freezer OFF. You'll need a cooler with dry ice for your frozen food. 99% certain it'll work after that.

First the arm has to be in the down position. It sounds like you said theres water in the ice maker. If thats the case then it should have frozed. The ice cannot drop unless the ice maker heater comes on. Then the ice maker scoops the ice and drops into the resoviour thingy. If you have ice in the ice maker tray but no ice in the bucket then the ice maker is defective.

I have a refridgerator model 106.56664500 and it has stopped making ice. Can u help..

Is the freezer cold enough? Should be close to 10 degrees.
Is there water or ice in the ice mold? If not put water in it and see if it dumps the ice after it’s frozen. If there is ice, lift the cut off arm and let it drop to see if it will start.
If it does dump the ice but don’t refill with water.
Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.

Ice maker icing up

Sounds like you may have a couple of problems here. The frost build up could be from a bad door seal. Moist air can be drawn in and collect on the inside. As for the water temp, it sounds like the water line connected to the refrigerator could be tapped off a hot water line. It needs to be connected to a potible cold water line.

Water does not seem to be flowing into ice maker.

Hi and I hope this will help. You can manually turn the timer and see if any water is dispensed into the ice cube tray . If no water is dispensed check if the valve is any good . A solenoid in the valve opens to allow water in to the ice maker. Sometimes timers stick too.

CHeck to make sure your freezer is 0 to 5 degrees. If it is warmer than that the water valve wont open to the ice maker. Have you replaced the water filter?

Kenmore Ice Maker

Sounds like a water valve problem to me. Force the ice maker to cycle. (turn it off and let it get cold for at least an hour then turn it back on). Test for voltage on the ice maker side of the valve. The valve is usually in the back near the floor. Just follow the water line. Another solution. switch the wires on the water valve. then try the water dispenser and see if it makes the ice maker fill up. See if when the ice maker cycles water comes out the door. If the ice maker causes water in the door , replace the valve, If door switch causes ice maker to fill up replace ice maker again.

Freezer is not making ice

PULL THE FRONT COVER OFF OF THE ICE MAKER AND CHECK THE PLASTIC GEAR ON THE FRONT OF THE CONTROL. THE CENTER OF THE GEAR HAS TWO PLASTIC TABS THAT HOLD THE GEAR IN PLACE. IF ONE OF THE TABS IS BROKEN OR MISSING, THE CONTROL OR THE WHOLE ICE MAKER NEED TO BE REPLACED.
CHECK THE ICEMAKER TO SEE IF THERE IS WATER OR ICE IN THE MOULD. IF NO WATER OR ICE, THE FILL TUBE IN THE BACK WALL MAY BE FROZEN OFF. REMOVE THE FILL TUBE AND CLEAR IT OF ANY OBSTRUCTION. YOU CAN ALSO USE A HAIR DRYER TO MELT OUT ANY ICE FROM THE FILL TUBE. THE OTHER POSSIBLITY IS A BAD WATER VALVE. THE WATER VALVE HAS TWO OUTPUTS, ONE FOR THE DISPENSER AND ANOTHER FOR THE ICE MAKER.
