The engine is unable to draw adequate fuel from the tank on a continuous basis, the filter may be clogged or there is an air leak in the fuel line between the fuel tank and the carburetor.

Stihl chain saw 024 AV , chain does not get oil

run it with the bar off and see if it pumps oil. I have drained oil tank and cleaned with gas(no run) then replaced with lite oil , run no chain and got them going ,or then gingerly run wire into oil hole and got them going, otherwise its tear apart time. If oil does come out, then clean your bar and your cover and use bar chain oil.

The saw only runs for a short time when I squirt gas into the spark plug hole. The book says that indicates a plugged fuel line. How do I unclog a fuel line in a Poulan PP4620AV chain saw ?

If you left gas in it for a year or so. You gotta take the Carb off and clean it. Guarenteed that the ethanol gas ruined the carb

My saw is not oiling enough. It only uses approximately 1/4 tank of oil per gas fill up. I cleaned out the tank until the filter is clean and adjusted the oiler screw to it's most open position. What...

Release the chain brake and remove the bar and chain. Clean the engine area where the bar fits to, then start the engine--oil should ooze out of the side port. In that case, clean the bar drive-end small oil passages that run from the large holes out to the chain groove on each edge. These passages commonly plug with sawdust/dirt over time and cause greatly reduced oil to the chain/bar. When all is back together, run the saw at speed with the bar tip near some cardboard--it should throw off a thin line of oil after a moment or two of running. Adjust the oil volume screw to achieve that result. Hope this helps!

Try removing the fuel cap for a moment, then try restart. If ok, check the fuel vent for plugging. Check the fuel filter for plugging. Inspect the fuel lines for decay or other damage. Check for spark when it stops--it may be the ignition module failing when hot. Check for sawdust and dirt plugging the ventilation system--blow it out with compressed air. Does the engine 4-stroke at speed when not cutting, but does 2-stroke when cutting? Make sure the chain is being oiled while running. Hope this helps!

Poulan 14" chain saw will not start

Usually, the fuel filter gets gummed-up from leaving it in any kind of fuel for long periods of time. Fish it out of the tank and either clean it in spray-carburetor-cleaner or replace it. Check the condition of the fuel lines while you are at it. Proper storage is to drain the tank and run the engine until it stops. If still won't run, the carburetor internals may need cleaning and re-kitting. Make sure the spark plug is firing correctly. Hope this helps!

Describe your Husqvarna "Chain Saw -

Remove the spark plug and test for spark. If ok, try some starting fluid in the plug hole, install the plug, and try to start. If it runs a short time, it is not getting fuel. Check fuel lines including inside the tank. Clean or replace the air filter. If this saw is fairly old, the carburetor probably needs a re-kit and cleaning. Does it have good compression? Check the muffler for plugging. Make sure the fuel/oil mix is fresh. Good luck!
