It may be a fault with the SIM card. If you can, try the SIM card in another (unlocked) GSM phone and see if a call to your number goes through. If it does, then the problem is with your phone. If it doesn't, then your service provide may need to provide you with another SIM. Nokia's "SIM registration failed" message is usually seen when a phone has been blocked by the service provider. Every GSM phone has a unique IMEI number, and if that phone is one that was originally sold through a service provider the provider has the ability to block it from being used on their network. This is so that stolen phones can be rendered useless. If you purchased the phone second hand, there is a possibility that it was reported stolen or missing. Finally, the message may be coming up because of a problem with the handset itself. This could even be the case if one providers SIMs work fine but yours continue to be an issue. In that case, see if a Nokia service center can do anything.

If the phone was reported stolen and blacklisted, there's very little that I know of that you could try and do to get it working again.

You might be able to purchase a SIM adapter from an electronics outlet that provides unlocking services. If you can find one that works for your phone, it may enable you use it with SIMs from other service providers but there are no guarantees as this type of modification is borderline shady to begin with.

Sim card registration failure means that the card in the phone is not being recognized by the service provider as a valid or current account. The service provider is denying service based on the sim card that you are trying to use in your phone. If you have a current and valid account with your cell phone provider then you need to contact them to remedy the problem because something in the registration process has failed. They need to update and/or correct their records to link your account to the sim card in your phone so that your service will work.

Phone says sim card registration has failed

When the message sim card registration failed comes up it is usually as a result of one of 2 things the first being that the phone has not recognized the sim card due to an improper fixing or the sim card has become faulty. Simply try the sim on a different mobile device to determine if the sim card is still good.
Thank you for visiting FixYa.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

SIM card registration failed

Hi,
There are several reasons that can cause this problem.
Sim card registration failed means it has been locked out by the service provider. Did you buy the phone NEW? If so take it back they will exchange it.If you bought it used, it has been reported lost or stolen before they sold it to you.
It is also possible that the "registration failed" message could be caused by a faulty SIM card not being correctly read by the phone.

Check if that SIM works in another phone (either an unlocked phone, or one that is on the same network), and also try another SIM in your phone - this would tell you whether the SIM or the phone is at fault in your case. A faulty SIM is an issue for your operator, a faulty phone would have to be repaired at a service point.

In countries like India, you need to register your SIM card. The cell phone company blocks the SIM if they don't receive the application within few weeks of activating the phone. Please check if this is case.
Take out the SIM and test it with a different phone, if the phone fails to read the SIM, get the SIM replaced. Few days ago this worked for a friend with a brand new Nokia handset here in Lagos, Nigeria.

Regards

Nokia e65 will not accept any sim card after i unlocked the phone

I would try the unlock again, it sounds like the unlock was unsuccessful otherwise it would have allowed you to use the other sim cards.

NOKIA N95 8 PROBLEMS

Try out different sim card to check phone's proper function. Because the message "SIM CARD REGISTRATION FAILED" is due to network problem or sim card problem.
Hope it works. Don't hesitate to contact me again if it doesn't solve the problem. Thanks
