Assuming you are talking about an SD card, no way that I am aware of. You might put your card into your comp and see if there's anything on the card.... sorry!

My girl took pics of wedding Saturday and viewed pics earlier today. When she went to look at them again, a message " Disc in Drive E is not formatted. Do you want to format disc now?" Of...

do not format -- you will lose the pictures

instead go to another computer that supports SD memory and CDRW. insert into that computer and then take all the PICS, save into that computer. now take a blank CD and take the saved PICs and burn into CD.
Also, to ensure you dont lose these pictures (PICs) you may want to buy a 4G or 8G USB thumb drive (about $10-$15 or less) -- drag and drop all the PICs (saved on that computer) into the USB thumb drive. Now you have on CD and USB drive.

hope this helps

I have a sony and I have taken some pic's and when I try to delete the pic's I have already taken it its igving me a "format error with what looks like a battery flashing and a C: 13.01. Please help...

If you have already copied the pics to your computer or simply don't want them, you can format the card using the function in the camera's setup menus. This will delete everything on the card, and should fix any problem with the card's format.

Deleting or formatting won't make the data in memory card erased permanently.

Those lost pics are still stored on the memory card, it's just invisible or inaccessible. Only the FAT or NFTS table is erased (the information about where those data were saved), but the real data are still intact there in sectors of the hard drive.

So as long as those photos are not overwritten by new pictures, it's highly possible to recover them. And the MOST Effective way is to rely on some format recovery programs.

Try Asoftech Photo Recovery program, which can recover pictures after deeply scanning the memory card to look for lost pics you accidentally deleted or formatted.

Hi there
Connect the camera to the PC, transfer the good pics to a folder on the PC, then use the camera's menu to format the card for use again, if you format the card before transferring the pics, you will loose them all.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!!

Recover pics from formatted memory card

The Answer is Yes. Deleting or formatting won't make the data in your memory card erased permanently. These data are just not accessible at the short moment. If you deleted important data in your hard drive, they are not deleted as a matter of fact just the index entry or FAT or NTFS marked the data as free space for new data to save. If you formatted the memory card, you simply rewrited or updated the FAT table or NTFS table which manage all the data storage process.

The best way to retrieve your deleted pics is to use some picture recovery programs. Recommended one is Asoftech Photo Recovery program. Here is the steps you may refer while retrieve your deleted pics from your camera memory card.

1. Download and install this photo recovery program on your computer.
2. With your camera memory card inserted, Under "My Computer", note the drive letter assigned to your camera's memory card (usually G: or H:).
3. Start the program and select the drive letter that assigned to the memory, click "Start".
4. Now the scanning process will start automatically to look for the deleted pictures. You will then get a list of all recoverable ones.
5. Select the pictures you want and click "Recover" and you can get back deleted pictures from your camera successfully.

Memory card says it needs to be formatted but i have pics on it and I need them..please help I will be waiting!

I had the same problem with my 4Gb card that has 750 photos on it. I tried doing different things, however, it did not work. At last I took the card out and blew on its chips, gave it a good shake and put it back. Then, the miracle happened. It could read all my photos. I guess there was some dust that had accumulated on the chips at the back of the card. Hope it can help you, too.

Picture Transfer issues

Delete the pics off your memory card.

Transferring them to a CD is only copying them, not deleting them off the card, so at this stage, the card is still full.

If you have a card reader, insert the card and format it.

This will delete everything on the card, making it ready for use again.

If not, follow the directctions for your camera to delete/re-format a card in the camera.

Hope this helps,

Format Memory Card

No problem. Your formatted pics are still there until you take more pics and overwrite them. Just remember not to take any more pics on that card just yet.
It's no problem at all to get them back. As an example, try the below linked freeware program. It's tiny to download (a little over 1meg), and very easy to use. You'll have your pics back in ten minutes after reading this:

Card not initialised

You can recover the missing pics off your card get, there are some image recovery programs available on the net and most camera shops will offer a card recovery service but dont format before you get pics recovered.

Not formatting a card is bad. They need to be formatted on a regular basis because deleting images from card does not remove them and the next image taken only overwrites the old ones.
