Replaced P4 865G. Turned on the power afterwards to only a black.

Original problem was the processor fan quit working. Replaced P4 865G chip and the fan associated. The hard drive was good and so was the XP OS. Turned on the power afterwards but only a black screen. The monitor works fine with another computer.

Lock A and Lock 1 flashes at start up no display then shuts off

Let's go back in the diagnosis

You checked with an external monitor, to see that the graphics chipset was the problem, correct?

When using the Display Assembly from the 6530b on the 6730b, were you able to use the 6530b's Video Cable, to check it out also?

You are FOLLOWING Anti-Static Precautions?

How did the original problem come about?
Makes a difference.

Display just quit one day, or was there damage; such as dropping of the laptop?

Is the motherboard from a reputable dealer, or is it from a major auction house that starts with an E?

Would appreciate all questions answered. I asked each one for a specific reason.

FAN OK BUT NO DISPLAY

I like that. Kinda' rhymes. "Fan OK but no Display"

Problem is your Processor isn't turned on.

You have a bad Power Supply.
> Weak voltage power rail.

You probably have a 200 to 300 Watt power supply. (SMPS)

1) ALL of the LED lights together use less than 1 Watt of power.

2) EACH fan uses 2 to 3 Watts.

3) A typical Processor can use 51 to 125 watts. Depends on what Processor it is.

The Intel D845GVSR motherboard uses a Socket 478 processor socket.
Supports Intel Celeron, Intel Pentium 4, and Intel Celeron D, that utilize a Socket 478 processor socket, and have a maximum FSB of 533MHz.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_chipsets#Pentium_4_Chipsets

Utilizes the Intel 845GV motherboard chipset.
[ Intel 82845GV Northbridge chip, and Intel ICH4 Southbridge chip ]

89 Watts is the maximum wattage, that can be used by a Processor for the Intel D845GVSR motherboard.

Power Supply has enough power to light LED lights, and spins fans, but not enough to turn the Processor on.
No Processor operating, No computer.
No computer, No video signal to the monitor.
(No Signal)

Do you have access to a KNOWN to be good, compatible Power Supply, for a test unit?

Sir, I have a Dell optiplex GX110. At the motherboard there is a long brown slot in which a board of 4 expansion slots has been pluged. The first problem was that I had removed the heat sink from the...

When you inserted a test probe into the slot and you saw a spark, then you have short circuit a component on the motherboard and have done a major damage to the motherboard.
You need a new motherboard, most desktop cases have standard mounting holes, you may be able to purchase a motherboard from other manufacturer to fit in the Dell.

Dell XPS 600 just dies. Power shuts off with no messages.

This could be one of Three different things:

1) Your PC is overheating. Clean out the dust around the processor fan and intake vents. Make sure that your fan is working. Make sure that the North and South Bridge chips are not overheating either (the two other large chips on the motherboard)

2) Your Motherboard has defective Capacitors. Once your Capacitors start bulging or leaking, the board will need to be replaced.

3) Your Power supply is failing. Not dead yet, but enough of a pause in power distribution to cause the entire system to go down. Power supply can be replaced as well.

Problem with Chip fan

you will need a replacement fan. Best thing to do here is go to the original manufacturers website for the computer or consult your manual (if anyone ever keeps these) and try to find the model number of the fan on the motherboard. then run a quick search for that fan's model number on ebay or contact the original manufacturer to purchase the fan...Unfortunately you've got a bummed fan. /:

My hp pavilion a6110n product nogg781aa .Has anoisy cooling fan .How do I chang it.

If it's the processor fan that's noisy you can purchase a replacement. The fan and heatsink are normally a complete assembly you can find from many vendors online. This computer has a type AM2 socket; you need to make sure to get a cooling fan for that type. Be sure the replacement will fit into the same space as the original.

If it's the power supply fan thats loud, there may be a couple of possible causes. It may just be a noisy fan, in which case you can replace the power supply. Make sure to get one that has at least the same power rating as the original. Or the fan may be running at its maximum speed. I don't know about this computer in particular, but many computers control the fan speed depending on how hot the processor is (determined by sensors built into the main board). If the fan is running at its top speed, it can be quite noisy. This might be due to a defective power supply or problems with the fan control on the system board
