Question about Flotec 1/6 Hp 1260 Gph Utility Submersible Pump

Correct placement for Flotec Utility Pump

I recently bought a utility pump. Last night we had a torrential downpour - the pump turned on and off but did not stay on for a long enough time to stop water from coming into the basement. We have it placed by our French drain - should it be in the drain? top of the drain? next to the drain? How do we keep the pump on for a long period of time?

Should be in drain basin to work properly and check that float moves freely.

Hi,
Either the float is stuck or the float went bad...
give it a kick and make sure the float has dropped down and is not hung up...
If that don't work then unplug it and replace the float switch...

unless you are a electriciani would highly recommend you do not touch this... the green wire is a earth and the two other wires are your active and neutral if you wire this back to front it will spin the oppisite way and could cause internal damage to the pump could spin impeller off or worse...
