Fridge/freezer keeps tripping

I have recently had my kitchen upgraded by the council, including the electrics. Since then, my fridge freezer keeps switching itself off and tripping the switch on the circuit board. I have been told that it is a fault with my appliance despite the fact that it worked before. I have been told that the upgrade is in line with new health and safety standards.

Try to plug into different circuit, if it trips that breaker on the board then the appliance is probably at fault.
I must assume that you have not acquired something plugged into the same circuit as the fridge.

SOURCE: fridge/freezer trips my circuit breaker

This sounds like a grounded wire in your defrost system. Start by finding the defrost timer and checking the wires. One may have been pulled loose or pinched while it was being moved.

SOURCE: Fridge keeps tripping electricity

I assume by "earth leakage" you mean it is on a GFI circuit? Some older GFI outlets are sensitive to and do not work well with motors or other inductive loads like your refridgerator compressor. As for the compressor feeling hot, this is usually normal.

If this is a GFI outlet, try replacing it with new unit. If it is a GFI breaker, try replacing that.

SOURCE: Fridge keeps tripping the circuit breaker

Your fridge should draw no more than 5amp. Presuming your breaker is at least 15amp there's a problem. Move to a different circuit first. If the condition persists check the start relay on the compressor. I have a suspicion the circuit may have another item you are not aware of.

Hi my samsung fridge/freezer suddenly started to trip my electricity,I changed the plug but still is tripping the electricity, also checked the socket, definitly the fridge

First you must isolate the problem. remove the rear service cover(unit unplugged) disconnect the wire plug to the compressor. replug the fridge. If the circuit doesn't trip ,then the compressor or relay is defective.

Rif when coming out of defrost mode it trips the breaker

You should check with your MFR service vendor.
*** following is for information only. ***
* Refers (all) will draw the heaviest load (amperage) when restarting the pump for any reason (like after defrost). If your tripping the breaker during motor starts then there could be several situations to cause this.
* Home refers are required to be on a dedicated branch circuit. (as I recently found out while my kitchen is being remodeled 2017.)
* Older homes have other outlets on the same branch and share the load to the breaker. You need to remove the extra load. No, you can't upgrade the 15 Amp breaker to 20 Amp unless the wires are sized for the upgrade. (usually it needs to be 12 AWG or larger). Yeah you will find old homes using 14 AWG wire with a 20 Amp breaker, but the code was changed (in most places) for additional protection.
* Final, there is a problem with the frig motor. Motor burnt out, Loss of refrigerant, etc. Call for service or replace fridge.

REFRIGERATOR KEEPS TRIPPING THE GFCI OUTLET

A GFCI detects shorts in an electrical system and isolates power to prevent that device from harming other components upstream. GFCI's do go bad so that possibility exists. However, I would recommend trying to plug in your refrigerator into another outlet in your kitchen that has a different GFCI plug. If it does not trip then the GFCI needs to be replaced. If you do not have another available GFCI outlet and you plug it into a regular outlet, your breaker for that service line MAY trip. Better off testing with another GFCI. If your second GFCI trips, then the problem is with your refrigerator...meaning you have a short in your refrigerator. If you think this is something you can troubleshoot...BE CAREFUL!!! Always unplug your refrigerator before going into the components of the refrigerator. One thing you can do is turn both the freezer and refrigerator temperatures OFF or to their lowest setting. Plug your refrigerator in and see if the GFCI trips. If it trips you have a major short...probably in the bottom of the refrigerator. If it does not trip, turn the freezer temperature on first and see if it will run without tripping the GFCI. If it runs, then turn the freezer temp OFF. Then repeat the process testing the refrigerator components. Ice makers have been known to generate shorts in the system as well. There are various ways to troubleshoot a fridge. If you do not have the required electrical troubleshooting skills then PLEASE call a service technician.

Hello, my hotpoint FF187E fridge freezer keeps tripping my electric off, sometimes it will stay on for a couple of days other times it does this straight away, any idears would be appreciated, thanks...

you may have a burned wiring which when wet trips off you electricity. the location may be in front of your unit between the doors if you have a two door fridge. if you have a singole door unit it may be located on lower area of the fridge body which where the water flow down when you have excess water dripping infront of your fridge. those two location are most likely because the wiring installations from thermostat, heater, and ligth are there. ofcourse you have to check first the compressor and it's auxillaries

Fridge freezers keeps tripping circuit breaker after 10 minutes or so of being on

Just a thought that this particular powerpoint may be overloaded with other appliances, have you tried pluggin into another powerpoint in another room (on an extension lead if necessary) to see if that breaker trips? This would at least identify if the problem is infact with the fridge.

If the fridge is drawing more power than the existing load on the powerpoint you intend to use, you may need to have the load checked for an upgrade of the breaker or cable, or have a new cable run to a new powerpoint.

The reason why you oven is tripping is because the oven element is most likely burnt out...
