Roof top air won't come on

I turned my roof top air on and it started to blow. I went into my house to let the unit cool the rv but when I returned the unit had stopped working. What should I do? I had to replace the fridge with a reg one, and now my air will not run, the fan will not run. Nothing works at the thermostadt.

If you are running the AC on an extension cord it can cause such voltage drop that a fuse or breaker can blow, in extreme conditions it can damage electrical connections. Always use extension cords that are as short as possible and replace the cord ends (especially the female end) whenever they lose clamping force. A heavy duty cord end takes much more effort to plug in the male end and to plug things into the female end. Over the counter extension cords for your purpose should be no less than 12/3 with heavy duty (20 amp) ends and no more than 50' long, if you must go farther you should use a 10/3 cord.

How can I tell if the compressor is coming on on my Coleman 13500 roof top A/C unit? It blows air but not cooling. Thanks

Hi,
When the compressor starts you will hear the unmistakable noise associated with it...there is a definite hum from the compressor...check the t-stat on the unit... they often go bad..

I have a Dometic Duo Therm rv Roof Air Conditioner Model# 59516.531.The fan is blowing and the compressor is kicking on but it is not blowing out cold air. Someone said it must be out of freon. Why would...

These are a closed system.(meaning that there is no fill valves for recharging) But a heating & cooling technician can solder them on and re-charge the system. Only problem there is to get an estimate up front, and compare it to buying a new roof unit which also comes with a new warranty, as well as keep in mind that the freon went somewhere, so there is an obvious leak that will need to be addressed as well. Most times it's wiser and cheaper in long run just to buy a new roof unit.
Are you sure that the compressor is kicking in? Did anyone remove cover on roof and check lines from compressor to see if any cooling is occurring?
These don't often leak, that's why I'm asking. Any idea how old the unit is?
Perhaps in fairly new, it's a warranty issue.

My roof top RV air conditioner is dripping water inside my RV

Check run-of on roof & see if it's been reduced lately, it may just be a plugged drain at base of unit on roof.

RV Roof Top A/C not cooling

Try turning the unit off for 24 hours and try again. It's possible that low voltage may be preventing the compressor from starting.

If no luck, the compressor should be checked to see if it's damaged. Also check any start/run capacitors and the controls in general.

Seal for roof top ac unit

I just spoke with the mechanic at my RV dealership and he said the sticky side goes on the a/c unit. You only have to turn it on it's side to do this. Just wait 1 hour after re-installing the unit on your RV before turning it on.
