Question about Panasonic PT-50LCX63 50" Rear Projection Television
My Panasonic Tv Shuts off randomly. Once it does the power button flashes red and the fans continue to run. This happened once or twice last week, but seems to be getting worse as it will not stay on for more than a couple of minutes today. Any ideas as to what the problem is? The bulb was replaced about a year ago and the tv gets minimal use.
You need to check the Inverter board of your TV. Here, I provided you the link to see how it looks like:
This is a common problem with most LCD TVs. And you need to refer also to a TV technician to test it if there's a problem with the inverter board. Then you may replace it if found defective.
Have a great day!

It means the power management circuit has captured the system and shuts it down when turned on just as fast as possible. The fact that it does not reset is another sign of serious trouble.
However, the power management circuit is likely not the problem; it is just responding to excessive current detection from other parts of the set. Most common is a failure of the high voltage section or the horizontal and vertical deflection areas.
It will need a tech to diagnose precise section and parts that are in trouble. The cost of repairs is usually between $150 and $250 for such types of faults.
Do not despair. This is a fine set. I like Panasonic; it is one of my favorite products. It is well worth the cost of fixing it up. It SHOULD last for another 7 years, so consider it to be a small annualized expense to keep it running. You will have many years of high quality entertainmnet I am sure.
Also this means the horizontal safety circuit
usually responsible for shut downs
is not at fault
if the horiz safety trips you have to unplug the TV
to reset the shutdon status
I would start by verifying your TV is plugged directly
into a wall plug
no extention cords and no surge protectors
If plugging into the wall stops the shutdowns then
go out and replace what ever cord you were using
otherwise you need a TV tech to look at the TV
the problem could be in many places in the TV
convergence IC may be failing
135 volt supply to the horizontal sweep could be low
almost any low voltage supply could have a cracked
solder connection causing random interuption
also I recall nuisence shutdowns with that Model
from the CPU PCB being loose
Left side of chassis all the way to front of PCB
its a small PCB that docks into signal main PCB
and it has 3 plugs that fit into sockets and it does
get loose over time (heating and cooling)
What I would do would be unplug the TV
then remove and remount the CPU PCB
it was that simple
