Question about Sony Grand WEGA KDF-60XS955 60" Rear Projection HDTV
About 1 month ago the corner of my screen (Sony KDF-60XS955) started glowing bright blue. It expands off and on like the northern lights to fill about 1/4 of the screen. I just replaced the lamp with one I received directly from Sony, and the glowing remains. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have the same problem with my sony, about 2 months ago I changed the lamp in it and 4 weeks later there is a blue blob on the right side of the screen and its getting bigger by the day, I did some research on internet and there was a recall about this problem on this model but the time limit ran out on Dec, 08, so sony wont do anything for you, the problem is the optical block and it is very expensive to fix, so I went and bought a new tv, not a sony since they left me out to dry. But if anybody Knows where I can replace the optical block for a reasonable price please let me know.

Talk to Sony about the blue blob issue, they may still replace the optical block for free.
If not, fix the blinking light TV.
3X - Lamp cover not installed correctly, usually after lamp change, or cover detect switch is bad.
4X - Check fans (one or more failed to pass RPM test during power on diagnostics)
5X - Lamp ballast (power supply)
6X - Usually the thermal fuse - usually from inadequate air flow (fans dusty)
All other codes usually require a trained technician to diagnose and repair.

That sound like the optical Block or otherwise known as the light engine
This still may be covered by sony's warranty
I would call them and see it is a very expensive part

With all due respect, you're asking the wrong people. Only Sony can tell you if you're too late but my experience has been that they're normally pretty fair with considering out of warranty goodwill repairs.
Ask Sony and if they can't help then come back and ask about your problem on FixYa.

Unfortunately, what you're describing is a repair issue. You won't be able to address the problem with troubleshooting. There is a part inside the TV that needs to be replaced. If you're under warranty, this will cost you nothing. If you're not under warranty the cost will likely be a minimum of $200 parts and labor. However, be warned that the cost could be considerably higher.
