Upper Spray Arm Fell Off

The upper spray arm has fallen off of my Frigidare 4000 series FDB4315LFCO and I was wondering if this is something I should be able to fix myself. I didn't immediately see a way to get it reconnected and no schematic was provided with the manual.

If you are referring to the arm on the top of the dishwaser (not the one under the top basked) it snaps in. What probably happened is that it fell off and the plastic nut flipped around. The gray plasting thing on the top (that looks like a flower) will unscrew and you can turn the nut around and snap it back on and then re-attach the entire piece.

I had the same problem. You can fix it yourself. Find a parts dealer on the frigidaire web-site and take them the model number of your dishwasher. the part I needed was described as "arm upper spray nut", part # 154607802. If you look at the top of the dishwasher, you should see a round nut, 3 in. diameter (it has a keyed/slotted outer edge). For me, the spray arm had disconnected from this nut. The sprayer had been held in place by a plastic piece with catches that held it in place. These plastic catches broke, letting the arm fall off. I believe these broke because of hard water/calcium build-up, as I found a nugget of calcification as large as the tip of my middle finger in the bottom drain screen. Remove the nut by turning counter-clockwise, replace it with the new assembly. (hand tightening worked for me). Good Luck

Hi, Have you been helped yet?
The upper spray arm has a nut to hold it up. The nut is located under the fill tube on the upper basket. Just sqeeze the tabs on the fil tube and you should see the nut to hold the spray arm.
I hope this helps you. Please let me knowif I can assist you further.

Upper arm spray fell off my Indesit dishwasher. How do I put it back on?

Usually, there is a small stainless steel sc rew with a knurled edge. It fixes through the central boss of the spray bar. You should find it in the bottom of the machine in the strainer, or hiding in the bottom somewhere.

The sprayer that hangs from the top tray fell off. How does it reconnect? Thanks.

Hello wladyka, that's a great question!

Normally, the spray arm would just screw into place on a Frigidaire dishwasher. If you continue to experience issues with the spray arm I would suggest consulting with a professional for further assistance. Hope this helps. -Matt

Hello ddux97 - Here are a few simple troubleshooting tips that may help you resolve this issue:

· Do you have hard water? Hard water is the primary reason to cause soap residue. Water hardness can be determined by the local water supply company, water treatment company or via a water hardness test kit, which can be found at local part distributors or hardware stores. Some kind of water softening is recommended, in areas where the water hardness is 12 grains or higher. For very hard water a home water softening system would be recommended.

· Will the upper spray arm rotate freely? If it does not, then there isn't enough water being pumped to the spray arm or the full flow of water is not making it to the upper spray arm. Remove or replace the spray arm assemblies since it is possibly damaged.

· Confirm that the drain hose is strapped up properly under the sink to prevent the water from siphoning out during the cycle.

· Dishwashers require the water inside the unit tank to be 120F to perform properly. Best way to ensure this happens is to run the sink faucet until the water comes out hot before the dishwasher is turned on. This will ensure that hot, 120F water goes directly into the dishwasher when it starts to fill. When checking dishwashing detergent boxes and with detergent manufacturers, the compounds in the detergent need water temperatures to be between 125F - 140F to dissolve in the dishwasher. The water pressure should be 20-120 psi (pounds per square inch). If it is too low, I recommend reaching out to a plumber to further assist you.

· Rinse aid dispenser should be checked and filled about once a month depending on the number of washes you do in a month since this will cause cloudy dishes and soap residue.

If these basic troubleshooting tips prove ineffective, then at this point, I would recommend having a service technician to diagnose the problem before investing in unnecessary parts.

Top rack does not wash dishes.

Possible causes of spray arm inefficiency:
Loading large or tall items in the lower basket which stops the arm revolving.
Upper spray arm split along seam.
Upper spray arm blocked.
Under dosing of powder causing foam and reducing upper spray arm water pressure.
Blocked strainers reducing water to circulating pump, therefore reducing upper spray arm water pressure.
inefficient wash motor impellor (faulty)

Upper spray arm failure

Easy to solve!
(1) Remove the drawers to give yourself room to work
(a) bottom drawer just comes right out -- but you knew that
(b) Carefully unclip small plastic retainer caps at the ends of the metal "glides" for the top drawer. Then slide the caps out of the glides. Then remove the top drawer.
(2) Unscrew the "gear-like" plastic fitting into whose hole you were sticking your finger when you felt that small cylindrical ring.
(3) Now that you've got access to the ring, the solution is obvious -- use it to snap the upper arm back into the gear-like fitting. When you're done, the arm will rotate freely in the fitting.
(4) Put everything back together and enjoy the fact that you didn't have to pay some yobbo $75 to come to your hous and do this for you!

(HINT: When screwing the gear-like fitting back into place, use the old machinist's trick of pressing gently and screwing backwards until you feel a click. The threads will now be aligned for you to screw things together the right way. If you do not do this, you might experience frustration reattaching fitting -- since the piece it screws onto is spring loaded.)

Upper rinse arm fell off. How does it reattach?

usually it will clip to the basket that holds cups and the like, and engages with the water outlet when the basket is slid into position. Some spray arms have a locking ring that, when the spray bar is held in place, rotates clockwise (if viewed from underneath) and locks the spraybar in place.
