Windows media player will not download music to your ipod...you will have to download and install Itunes to download music to your Ipod.
Windows media player uses WMA files, and Apple Ipod uses ACC files...
You will need to change your songs from WMA to ACC files using this free file converter located on the following webpage.
After you convert your songs and download them to I tunes then plug in your Apple Ipod and Itunes will open and will also recognize your Ipod.

You need to have iTunes installed on your computer. It's a free download from Apple. Load your CD's into iTunes or buy songs from the Apple iTunes Music Store. Then You need to do a 'Restore'. Connect your iPod with the cable that came with it to the USB port on your computer. In iTunes, click and (Restore). This will rebuild all the software on the iPod and sync your songs from iTunes. It works much better than WMP
your ipod will not function properly with windows media player. it may play the music but it won;t get functionality from the ipod. You have to use iTunes to get your ipod straightened out. Once you mount it on iTunes you will see the music and be able to add music and delete music.
how did you rip your music. you have to use Itunes.
down load itunes from apple.com
go to import music from folder and go to my music folder and bingo all your music will be in a language that your ipod will read.
unplug the power cable going into the power supply. wait for a while and plug it back
install software with updated drivers. check to make sure you have the most recent motherboard drivers.download if necessary.plenty of sites available
update your windows media player
get Windows XP Service Pack 1 or Service Pack 2 if possible
goto Start Menu->Control Panel->System and then clicking the Hardware tab and going to Device Manager. in Device Manager you could delete all entries with "USB" in the name and reboot. let Windows redetect the USB devices. uninstall your usb drivers and download the latest ones available and reinstall your usb drivers.
Just to make sure...are you using supported file types? Do the files you are trying to use have DRM (digital rights management) on them that would prevent them from being used on other equipment? This means did you buy them online from a source like i-Tunes or Walmart. Try using a plain jane mp3. if you don't have one put a cd in your computer and rip it as mp3 files in window media player. Then try moving those files to the Delstar. Or try placing files it from another computer.
