Question about Sharp Aquos LC-42D62U 42 in. LCD HDTV
I've had my sharp tv for 2 years and all of sudden the sound went off and now there's no audio. The tv isn't on mute and the cable volume is to the max and there's still no sound. I've also tried unplugging it and that still doesn't work. It's currently connected to the cable box with an hdmi cord. How do I fix this?
If you had sound for before and then lost it (without changing any settings), then try the main resets in the back by the a/v in and out jacks. If this does not work, call Sharp Customer Service (1-800-237-4277) and tell them that you already did the resets. There is a known problem with a heat dissipation pad for the onboard speakers and they will send a repair tech to replace the pad for free, even if you are out of warranty. At least that was the case with my LC-32D6U.

The sound card is bad on your tv, the only inconvenient is that if you replace it, it will go bad again, so your solution is to get the sound from your cable or satellite box and go through a receiver or amp. basically what i am saying is "build a little home theater" to get the sound and don't waist your money trying to fix it.

Well for a start, they are NOT all the same models, also. a certain percentage, are expected to, and do fail. You see for a good repair, you need to contact, a local Sharpe, office, and ask, for a referral, to an Authorised Service Center, repairer. It is indeed worthwhile contacting Sharpe, as often, a service bulletin, has been issued, that maybe to do with your set, and if your set was in the repair bulletin, then you may even get your set fixed for free, or at the least very subsidized. So you see until, you contact, an Authorised Service Canter, and inquire, always ask for a "Quote" this way, you can find out what's wrong and how much, you can expect to pay.
