Question about Fuji FinePix S1000FD Digital Camera

2 Answers

Finepix S1000fd just suddenly quit working...

I was taking pictures at a party, then viewing them this weekend... while viewing, the camera just turned off. Then, it would briefly flash the ''FUJIFILM'' logo when I tried to turn it on again, and shut back off. I figured the batteries were dead (this after I got several times ''CARD NOT INITIALIZED'' error when turning the camera on... then that just stopped and was fine). I have now put in several brand new batteries, and the camera still just flashes the logo on screen, then goes black... the small indicator light flashes orange once or twice... but i can't view or anything. Eventually, i hear the zoom move and it ''turns off'' like normal auto turnoff... but I can't do anything. Ideas? I'm so frustrated :(

I'm not sure how old this is, but I had this identical problem on my Fujifilm Finepix S1500 and the solution was embarrasingly easy and it may be related to this same problem. If your camera has a viewfinder, see if there's an image there. If so, look to see if you have a EVF/LCD button or something similar on the back of the camera. If so, press it. What had happened with me is that my wife likes using the viewfinder for framing and she presses that button to turn off the rear LCD and on the viewfinder. Maybe the button got pressed accidentally. Press it again and it should switch back. Hopefully this is the solution.

Have you tried changing the memory card?

My flash has stopped working too. At least the camera itself works now. For about a year it wouldn't function for longer than a few minutes - just kept turning itself off. This camera also takes very disappointing photos - very grainy and often in poor focus no matter how hard I try. It even developed a strange bubble or piece of dust in between the anterior lenses. I feel this model is just a lemon. Shame on me for trying to get too nice of a set of specs for too cheap a price. I should have known better. I've had friends use other models of Fuji that are much better. I'm giving up on this camera. Now that the flash doesn't work, it's not much good for anything but sunny day photos. I think I'll give it to my 6-year-old niece.

Hi! I am having Fujifilm S1000fd digital camera. I have two issues. First one is with SD Card. Just yesterday i were having difficulty of viewing some pictures in the camera. At one zoom knob doesnt work ...

The zoom button is not for browsing the pictures.
Use the 4-way switch to browse the pictures.
It appears that there is something wrong with your SD card. Format the card in the camera before using it again. Make sure you have saved all images to the computer before formatting.

You have a faulty battery. Try cleaning the contacts on both the batteries and the charger.

I cannot not figure out how to enable the time and date stamp on my Finepix S1000fd

The date and time (and a lot more) are stored with every picture in its EXIF metadata. Any photo viewing/editing program should be able to display this data. To print this data, please consult the documentation for whatever program you're using to print your pictures. Depending on the program and printer you may print the date on the image, in the margins, or on the back.

Is it possible you have the self timer ON?
Look for a small clock symbol in the top middle of the view screen or electronic viewfinder. If it is on then hit the down arrow on the 4 direction button until it goes off. There are two self timer settings, 10 seconds and 2 seconds, and off means shoot immediately.

Digital camera reads " read error" when I try and view the pictures

Change your memory card. I had same problem with my new Fuji Finepix S1000fd. Problem always came out in flash mode, with write/read error and freezing problems. Always use Premier brand memory cards. Prior to changing it, I also suggest to format your present card.

Camera freezes after taking picture

I had this problem with my s1000 Fujifilm, but solved it by changing the standard SD card for a SDHC class 4 card. It no longer freezes when a flash is used! I've tried a 4Gb and a 16 GB SDHC class 4 card and both are fine.
