Problem with tv turning off by itself.

I haven't had my tv longer than a year, however, it just shuts off by itself.  What's up with this?

I have an older (2004) 50"DLP, and it has just recently started turning itself off. Very random, sometimes after 20 minutes, sometimes after an hour, and sometimes not at all.

I got this Samsung DLP 56" Rear Projection TV  for nearly 2 years, and now the TV turns off by itself at random. It will comes back on when I turns it on, and then the cycle starts all over again. I checked the manual, it does not have the symptom that the lamp is needing replacement.

    Any advise for this?

TV 2 years old. Samsung 56" HD TV. Once it gets warmed up, it turns itself off randomly. Sometimes will stay on for an hour and then will have a series of turnoffs.

First of all, you should try making sure in your menu that you do NOT have your timer set to shut off.  You'd be surprised how many people call Zenith every single day and fuss at me because their tv is 'broken' and they have a timer set.  Secondly, it sounds to me like it could be an issue with your power supply.  Does it turn itself back on randomly as well?  Do you hear any popping sounds when it turns off?  Check with your manufacturer to see what their repair warranty is.  Some have full warranties for 90 days parts and labor, and some have it parts and labor warranties for a full year.  You'd be surprised how much the customer service agents working for your tv's manufacturer actually know about the product.  Give them a call for sure to get more information! :)

Toshiba model 35D10 randomly turns itself off. requires unplugging/replugging at wall ooutlet to reset. problem has become more and more frequent.

replace flyback transformer (same type - equivalent will not work ) - this part's work is to supply voltage to TV TUBE - after 4 years ( 4 to 10 years - depending on usage ) this part becomes weak then in top brand TVs automatically TV senses this deffect & well in advance it shuts off TV to protect other components from getting damaged due to this flyback transformer ........... as on now in your case only flyback transformer is deffective - so replace it as early as possible ....... click below link for more details on how to replace it ......

The TV started turning itself off occasionally a

Most likley what it could be is an interferance in the TV. Modern TV's have a feature that will shut itself off when it is not receving a picture. For instance, after so many minutes of "snow" it will shut off.sometimes this can make the TV think there is no signal at shut itself off.Anyway, I suspect its an interferance issue. Perhaps moving the TV further from the source of the interferance might help.

TV shuts itself off. ON/OFF switch no longer works.

If your sure the switch is broken, you can remove the switch and directly attach the wires and plug and unplug to turn it off and on. But it sound like that if the switch is broken you have a slight connection and with an ajar it will turn off and on by itself. The good thing to do would be to purchase a push button switch at your local electronics store for between $1.25 to $10.00 depending on what one you would like to have.
if it is remote control you could have what they call a sliver on the circut board to that can cause this to make the tv turn off and on. Best way to check this is to take the remote batteries out and see if the tv still turns off and on. If so replace the switch.

Magnavox 15inch lcd shuts itself off

I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.

Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors. Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected due to these defective capacitors.
Solutions?
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.

Hope this helps

Polaroid LCD tv - model TLX-04244 Shuts itself off...

The solution at this point would be to get the power supply repair since new boards are not longer being manufactured. In about 95% of the time if the LCD doesn't power up or turns OFF by itself or need to be unplug for some time to make work again; those are the symptoms of a dying or defective power supply.
If your TV is less then a year old, still under manufacturers warranty.
I service these power supplies, for more info write to [email protected]
