Question about Zebra Z4M Printer

1 Answer

Printing loop I have a Zebra Z4m printer and sometimes when printing larger amounts of text data it acts like there is a buffer problem because it starts printing the same data over again loke it gets in a loop. Then we have to kill the print. I does not seem to hapen when we send small a mounts of text to print. I have a similar problem to below and I have reset my printer to default as was suggested with no change. We use a HP Jetdirect to connect to the network which I have also reset. During my testing I did get some smaller jobs to print but when we tried to reprint them they had the same problem. posted by tstockman on Oct 10, 2007 I have a Zebra Z4m printer and sometimes when printing larger amounts of text data it acts like there is a buffer problem because it starts printing the same data over again loke it gets in a loop. To answer my own problem - I have found my problem to be the HP Jetdirect.
When I have tested the same print job on the same model printer but using either the the Zebra Net Printerserver II (kindly loaned to us by UniqueID for this testing) or one of our units that has a wireless cisco card the job terminates correctly.

users connect via winterms on a citrix farm and printing is via a terminal server so are unable to connect directly to it. I ran tests here at the head office on anopther printer with the same results.
However when I ran the same tests to either a wireless zebra Z4M and another with a zebranet printserver I had successful results.

Hello,

Have you tried sending print jobs thru the parallel port only? I think it has to deal with your jetdirect box. You can try reseting that as well.

Firstly make sure your using the correct drive ZM400 rather than Z4M. if you are using the applications driver make sure of headers and footers sizes and the print area is set correctly. If your using odd sized lables download some new drivers from the Nice Label website, they are far more adjustable that the standard Zebra drivers.

Slow Printing on Zebra Z4M

An unorthodox solution is to install an old driver. Another solution is to use with Codesoft the driver from www.seagullscientific.com, and with Zebra Designer, the Zebra Designer driver. If the printer is connected to the serial port, speeds up communication.

Error in Print Jobs in the Queue

The use of a Print Buffer will help, the problem happens when there is a buffer overflow. Reboot the printer and let the print queue to resume will fix it every time, a print buffer will help with the overflow, try get one with a fair bit of RAM
