Question about Dell Dimension C521 PC Desktop

1 Answer

Graphics Card recently went bad and I replaced it. It worked fine for a week or so, then the monitor just went blank. I can hook the monitor upto the onboard video and it works fine, but if I hook it up to the Graphics Card it is a blank screen. Graphics card is a NVIDIA 7300 LE, any and all help will be appreciated.

Try hooking up the Graphics Card to another PC. Could be they were working okay and something is wrong with your computer. This is not a solution, but a first step to make sure the cards went bad in the first place.

Why doesnt my monitor work with my asus p4s800-mx?

Check to insure the video card is seated properly in the motherboard. Make sure the VGA connector is snug. Finally, check if the monitor works on another computer.

I have an old HP Pavilion a1140n, it was working fine until one day the monitor went blank. The monitor is still good because I connected it to my lap top and it works fine. The problem seems to be with...

obsolete PC, HP has zero support on it
no OS, stated, XP? what XP - service pack 3?
no service tag presented.

sounds like mobo is e-machine, onboard video chip bad,.
yes, most mobo support an old VGA card not sold now.
only used, and must match your machines express card,
voltages, etc. called express level #
the must go to bios and change from internal video to external.
that part is tricky on dead screen. no?
find that card (old) and working used, is problematic, could take weeks to find one... why?

and old old Pentium 4 wow.
why no scrap the best and upgrade to a newer system.
one with SUPPORT?
10 years or newer,
can be had used for like $50 (the brick, no screen)
why mess with OLD IRON like this... time to move on.
why spend a fortune on a PC worth $5 on the street
ever go to GOODWILL>? see vast machines far newer, for NOTHING?
or here, amazing no?
and this, even new boxes are cheap.
H3LL less than one service charge at a shop. Geek something.

I have a hp pavilion ze 2000 and when I turn it on the two lights by the scroll and caps lock key blink and the screen stays blank. Please help me!

Hello, I'd start by hooking up another external monitor, that way you can rule out if your video/graphics card is working. If the new monitor works that means your video card is fine and you'll need to look at replacing your current monitor Good luck, mpawlak908

How do I do about resetting the bios to see if my monitor issue is the graphics card that is causing the problem?

Hey Hi Mary,

Well if your system has an EXPANSION GRAPHIC CARD then in order to find out if the GRAPHIC CARD has gone bad u actually need to remove it from the system then hook up the monitor in the INTEGRATED VIDEO PORT. If the monitor works well and good then its the GRAPHIC CARD which has gone bad.

Because until the GRAPHIC CARD is installed in the system the system by default keep ignoring the INTEGRATED GRAPHIC CARD it will not even detect whether the system has an INTEGRATED GRAPHIC CARD or not..

Kindly Reply Back If You Need Any Help..

I notice a difference in the setup of the two monitors, have you installed the correct driver for the new screen?

Try F8 on startup to get into safe mode, this should allow you to use the default VGA screen, and to reset the correct monitor drivers.
