MY psp is unable to read any UMD discs. I tried two different discs and the psp said, "The disc could not be read". The psp games were working before on my psp but I don't know what happened to...

Did you have a firmware upgrade? if you can detail your current firmware I might be able to help you. There are higher custom firmware (CFW) that has known issues with UMD reading. Don't worry, it's about your UMD, you can even try the same UMD to your friend's PSP and Im pretty it will run. It's your firmware that needs to be changed. However, you may need to downgrade first before upgrading to a new firmware again to solve your problem. Please get back here when you have the details...

This is how I managed to fix the psp error 80020148. Ok I found some program online that works on my 3.40 OE-A and it rips the UMD games for me. but when I went to play them the "The game could not be started. (80010002)" message came up. Then I tried to play the original game (UMD DISK) I got this message "The game could not be started. (80020148)". So I went online here is what i found......
1. Goto Recovery Menu (turn off then hold R and turn on) 2. Configuration -> Use NO-UMD (Disable it) 3. Go all the way back to main menu 4. Advanced -> Advanced Configuration -> (Disable all of them)

I cant play the game in memory stick..

you'd first have to downgrade your psp. try to lower it to 3.50 or 4. something. then insert the .pbp file... this file is a hack.. or an upgrader for a psp.. once you do this.. your psp will be back to version 5.03 but now you can play downloadable games.

Update version error (80020321)

What version did you update to? most likely the lens is just dirty a little alcohol and qtip and the lens can be cleaned but be sure to be careful. You can also buy a cleaning disc as well. If you need further assistance let me know, also please take a moment to accept and rate my solution accordingly.

Upgrade and using non UMD on PSP

For non UMD files like video or music to work on your psp you need a media manager designed to work on the psp which you can get anywhere they sell peripherals for the system, but if you want to get DVDs or something on the psp it won't work. As for upgrading just buy a recent game, or hit the internet upgrade button on the menu while connected to a WIFI access point and it will do it automatically.

Sony psp error code 80010002

if you are having the error code "80010002" then shut down your psp, then start it up again holding the Right Trigger to activate recovery menu.
go to Configuration, and use no umd.
then go to Advanced, then Advanced configuration, then disable both of them.

Hope this helps.
