Will not longer Turn on- No Help from LG Please read
I got NO WHERE with LG!
They want the original purchase receipt to prove the date I purchased it, from where and for how much... Umm don't have the receipt, they told me without the receipt my only choice would be to Ship this 40 lb paperweight to them, pay the ship cost myself, then an additional 109.00 to diagnose the problem.. THEN additional costs for parts and Labor to repair this unit!
Are they friggin' kidding me? I did a search via Google and there are hundreds of people having this same issue dating back over 2 years ago, so If my tv is only 1.5 years old, they (LG) must have known about this issue, yet, continued to sell these faulty TV's, they should have recalled them or extended the warranty to 2 years, but I imagine they knew the boards were bad and just "hoped" some were good.
This is absurd!!!! In my local area (NY) on channel 11 news (WPIX) there is a chance for assistance it is called "Help me Howard" I have contacted them to see if they can help, I encourage everyone to contact LG, make a record of your TV issues, and if you get nowhere, contact Help me Howard, or a local TV show for assistance. Below is what I e-mailed to Help Me Howard.
Need help with LG Electronics.
Purchased a LCD 1.5 years ago, it now does not work, I researched online and found numerous, over 100 other consumers having the same issue with the LG LCD TV's posted over 2 years ago, quite a few with the problem being diagnosed as a Bad Circuit Board.
Phoned LG to try to get the warranty extended as there is only a 1 year warranty, wothout the original purchase receipt they cannot review my case, I do not have the receipt. So they said that I will have to ship this 45 lb tv to them at MY cost, pay 109.00 to diagnose the problem and then pay for parts and labor; even if I did have the receipt I was told they would most likely NOT extend my warranty. So my biggest issue is this, If I can search the internet find numerous complaints of the same issue and I am sure LG was made aware of them YET continued to sell these faulty units after having known they were failing just past a year or even under, why didn't they recall the product, extend all warranties to keep good faith.. something! Not that we all have to repair a poorly made product that they continued to sell. What a ripoff! I can purchase another larger LCD TV for about 400.00 by a reputable company vs. paying an unknown amount, well guaranteed 200 + dollars for LG to diagnose and me to pay to ship this large paperweight... This is not just my issue quite a few consumers have the same. Please help!

Normally you don't need to do anything... In some rare cases you may need to send in the registration card of the product... But that is almost never necessary, however sometimes manufacturers will give you a little extra warranty time if you do that. Mainly registration cards are used for marketing purposes to send you sales solicitations on other products.
The most important thing is that you keep the receipt of the item... As it proves the date of purchase, which is the beginning date of the warranty. Without the store receipt there is no proof of purchase and the warranty is not going to be honored. Even if you register the project product using the registration card you still need to keep the store receipt as they may ask for it on your first warranty claim.
Even if you register the product using the registration card you still need to keep the store receipt as they may require it on your first warranty claim.
If the registration requires the store receipt, always send a copy and keep the original... Never send the original. Ever.

It really doesn't matter that you put the wrong store on the registration. You don't even need to register a product as long as you keep your sales receipt to prove the purchase date. Registering just provides a record for the product maker and they use the information for marketing. I'd suggest making sure you keep the receipt somewhere so you'll be able to find it easily if warranty service is ever needed. (I keep receipts and manuals together in a file cabinet along with other papers.)
Same problem started happening two days ago and ever since. I called LG and the product falls under a 3yr product warranty according to them (from my original purchase date of January 20, 2007). They will send packing slips to me so I can send the defective unit back to LG. I was told I am eligible for a replacement monitor - which will be shipped to me within 10 to 14 days (consecutive days, not business) - although I'm not sure what I'm being sent in return. My suspicion is that this monitor issue is a known issue by LG and they are quietly replacing the unit to those who follow through by calling CS.
Tips: Have your original purchase date on hand (in the form of a receipt) just in case they want proof of purchase.
Your warranty should very well be honored and yes, the warranty does start right when you leave the store as long as you have the original receipt, otherwise, they might just honor the production date via serial number. If you have the original receipt, then you need to tell them this and speak to someone higher up, like a manager. It is not your fault Circuit City went out of business.
