The mouse pad might be worn down - try an external mouse and see if it has the same problem. If not, the you'll need the mouse pad on the computer replaced.
either your mouse pad is broken or someone or some program has shut off the driver for your touch pad. I would reinstall the drivers and reboot. if that doesnt fix the issue, I would then look into replacing the pad.
maybe your mouse is not comaptibel with the system of your laptop or you need the disk driver to install the mouse to work properly?
or your mouse is already damage and need to replace try to change it with a new one.
